I'am in process of changing the head gasket, on my 76' 02. A couple questions, should I expect any warpage, and what other recommendations does anyone have.

The motor runs great, however I am blowing a little white smoke and it has been hard starting in freezing weather. When started and warm, it's all 2002.

Are you sure it is the gasket thats bad. You would be overheating by now if it was taking in the coolant?


If you blow a properly installed gasket, it is almost certain that your head is in bad shape and warped.

I changed the thermostat and that's all good. Keep in mind, this the first full fuel tank I have ran through this car(old gas?)... it has been sitting for years. I may be getting ahead of myself.
