View Full Version : Help with asking price for C-Mod Car

I'd like to get some opinions on what kind of money I should consider asking for a '95 M3 chassis, Piper Motorsport cage for Mod, solid mounts everywhere, Moton Triples, S50B32 (stock euro 3.2) with less than 25k miles, 5 speed tranny and three sets of rims/slicks, Crawford rear wing, lexan front, rear and sides, 391 and 3:15 diff and many other items of interest.

Lots of good parts. Just needs final suspension setup to make the car fast. Great candidate for NASA GTS3. Just needs a bit more weight and it would be at the top of that class!

Paint is in good condition.

Alpine White with Gunmetal Gray interior.

Annual Tech in log book. Passed with flying colors! Complemented on a well built car by BMW Tech.

Shaken out at WGI. Mechanically, vehicle performed flawlessly. Just needs suspension setup!!!

I'm looking to SELL the car...not just sit on it waiting forever to find a buyer. So, if anyone has any ideas of where the biting occurs on something like this...I'd love to know.

Thanks.

Mods, I hope I've not broken any rules! :D

Didn't you just finish this car Ken? After a year of work?

Best places that I know of are going to be the special track 'for sale' forum here, and the BMWCCA club racing website. I am sure others will chime in as well.

Headed to SE36?

Will,

Yeah, just sorta finished the car. Like I said, it just lacks final suspension setup/tuning.

Any ideas about ballpark pricing? That's really what I was hoping people would provide before I set out to actually sell it.

Unforutunately Ken it is probably $35k or LESS for a quick sale. E36's have reduced in value considerably.

Check out the bmwccaclubracing.com classifieds and definitely list the car there (email gilbert). You'll see the high priced cars languishing there for months and months, you'll get the idea that they're priced too high.

I'm not an expert though I just sold a challenged '95 M3 (motor issues, cage kinda weak, crappy suspension) for $25,000. Your car is loaded, considering the euro motor and Moton triples. I would guess the car will go at $35,000 with the spares package, but you should list it at $38,000. My apologies if that sounds like an insult...again I'm not an expert.

A friend is sellling his GTS3/CM 325i car. He's taking out the suspension and euro/6spd and is going to market it as a SpecE36. It may not make sense for you to sell the engien separately but it's something you might consider. Good luck.

Hey Jon.

Yeah, I was thinking $30k for a quick sale! So, maybe that's the number?!

Thanks for your input Jon!

Hey, btw...was that monster engine that's for sale the one that you purchased from me? LOL

Hmmm, maybe you're right. I think I'll ask $35k and see what bites I can get.

Wow, you got $25k for your car with engine issues. I don't want to give my car away. Too much blood, sweat and tears! LOL
But, I don't want it sitting all winter if I can help it!

Thanks for the info Krisco!!!

I need to get in touch with gilbert...anyone know his email address?

Compromise. For a couple grand extra you could be waiting 3-5 months for sale. But if you can handle losing 3-5k, in the big picture its nothing, and will get you cash in your pocket now. Invest it aggressively for 6-8month and you should be ready to build a new beast ;) haha

30k sounds about right, should get a buyer fairly quick with spares and wheels/tires.

My two cents as a first-time buyer (earlier this year) who followed the ads for a while until I had the funds and found the right opportunity: sounds like the car should sell in the lowish 30s (32-34). I almost bought a car similar to yours for around that price.

For what it's worth, I listed my IP car last December for $27.5k and sold it in 3 days for asking.

Didn't you see his wink smiley thing?

I agree with trackwhiz...my car sold while a kickass racecar languishes in Tampa (only a few hours away) at the same asking price.

If it can help, it took many month for me to sell this car... I think the buyer got a great deal at a little less than $30k, this is DM winner, ex WC car. The car was spotless and in perfect running order with fresh $16,000 VAC motor.
