View Full Version : convertible top power problems?
fv12849 12-04-2006, 07:47 AM So yesterday went to put top down--it has been working fine since I got the caryr ago- my daughter had the trunk open . So I stop and wait then went ahead to put it down. the control button works the windows but nothing else happens. can the rear motors dislodge? maybe fuse? (which one) should i try reset of motors? Need any help I can get.
jasontn 12-04-2006, 11:48 PM If your LED light is blinking on your switch, I would go ahead and disengage the motors and re-initialize. If its not blinking...check the fuse.
mahmudb 12-05-2006, 02:35 AM You should first start by checking the fuses. I remember that my top stopped working and I replaced the fuse and it started working.
fv12849 12-05-2006, 07:36 AM ok i'll try that...can u help with fuse # or layout...fuse block in engine area or any other locations to look for?
TC in SD 12-05-2006, 01:29 PM I believe it's fuse #7.
Can you hear the motors turning when you push the switch? It could also be the micro switch that keeps the top from operating when the trunk is open.
mahmudb 12-06-2006, 01:32 AM I think it was fuse #7 in the engine compartment. I think there are 2 fuses that control the top. Look on the cover of the fuse box and it will tell you.
fv12849 12-06-2006, 08:23 AM Thanks guys I'll check it out today
fv12849 12-06-2006, 04:23 PM thanks all micro switch in trunk everything works fine now

you should have started a new thread for this.
your top seriously opens itself randomly when parked? :eyecrazy
its an 05, unless you drove it enough to get it out of warranty, take it to a dealer.

I second that. It sounds like some sort of electrical or switch problem. Def. take it back to the dealers and have it fixed, and have the whole interior cleaned out and hazmatted at no charge, thats a ridiculious thing to have happen.
Keep us posted on your progress.

Just to make sure, but FYI there's an interlock switch that prevents the hood compartment to open when the bootlid is open.
So if it is, the roof won't go open. Not even at the windshield.
badwayz 12-28-2006, 07:46 PM My full power top stopped working as well. Worked fine two weeks ago and then when I tried it today...nothing. I checked the fuses and even changed them just in case and no change. Whats this micro-switch in the trunk all about? Any other suggestions?

If your trunk (boot) is open, the power hood will do nothing.
Since stowage lid and trunk can't be open at the same time, this microswitch prevents this happening.
There's a total of 8 microswitches that operate the fully-auto hood.

So, where do I find them, how to check them, and what to look for?
My trunk was completely closed and I even checked to make sure.
badwayz 12-30-2006, 03:18 AM I understand that my micro switches could be the problem, but I dont know how I go about fixing this problem or what to even look for? ANYONE HELP?
rjnuck 01-11-2007, 11:06 PM Bump. Can anyone help us locate the microswitches and how to fix them?
badwayz 01-12-2007, 08:01 AM Mparalell posted this link on another thread that shows where all the microswitches are located and info about them

Still not sure on if they can be fixed or checked or reset or need replacing though
