I recently purchased an 01 X5 4.4i with 80K on it. It has the Sport Pkg, Cold Weather, 19's, and Xenons. I love it but it has one problem that is driving me nucking futs. The factory moonroof (non-panoramic) has an annoying squeak/squawk that happens when it is closed all the way and I hit a pothole, speed bump or railroad tracks. I have driven with the moonroof open and with it tilted open and it makes no noise so I know that this is where it is coming from. Is there something I can access to tighten this thing up or is a trip to the dealer in my future?

try some sort of weather stripping to stop the noise.

get some non hardening pure silicone. brush it on the tracks. make sure all the hardware is tight. should fix it.
