I'm about to start working on my best friends 1976 02. I've been after him for years, but kids, work.... Anyway, I restored a 75 back in 1989 but I got rid of all the stuff I had. Now the question.

I got a set of EKT, TIS, and ETM on ebay in '05, but the mobile tradition section is a bit sparse. Is there a better source of parts diagrams, and wiring diagrams for the 02? What is the best manual still available? I think Greg is getting me the restoration guide for X-mas...lol Oh Boy..\

The car hasn't run in years, and I old hi that the first things to do is make it run, make it stop, and make sure that you don't fall to the floor through the seat. From there, how big is your wallet. The car has a ton of potential, it only has 80K miles, Just a bit of visible rust at the junction of the fender and the nose panel. I haven't had it on a lift yet, but the car has always been stored in the garage.

I remember back when I was restoring the 75, there was a company in Pa that had a very complete catalog of 02 parts, are they sill around? or were they swallowed up?

Realoem site is like the ETK (electronic parts catalog) or HTK (historic parts catalog) CDs, but online.
BMW also offers the repair manual on CD - basically a pdf version of the paper manual. Paper manuals run ~$100 for a reprint or eBay - BMW dealers sell the CD for $90+. Let me know off-forum if you're interested in the CD.
Bimmer Parts Co. was in PA - bought by Maximillian Importing Co. (outside Baltimore) several years ago. It's best to phone them. Their bare-bones site is: http://bimmer.com/
We have a number of 02 owners here in the Mid-Atlantik area, and have an e-mail list for various functions. Drop me a note and we'll get you added.
