I still have yet to replace my center support bearring on the drive shaft, so I cannot accelerate too hard before 20 MPH. However, I had to one day merging onto the interstate where contruction was going on, causing me to come to a stop in the merge lane, and then gun it to get into traffic. The bearring made a hard knock into the bottom of my car. When it hit, all of a sudden my hazards came on automatically, and my interior lights switched on. I drove like this for about 30 seconds, first continually hitting the hazard button to try and turn them ioff, which eventually the did. Then, I was switching the interior light switch to all 3 positions rapidly trying to turn them off. I finally had to simply open and shut the door to get them to turn off.

Was this something built into my E32 to automatically happen in the case of a possible "collision", or maybe just a fluke thing that triggered a bizzar event?

Yes, that is normal, the crash sensor acted.
In case of a crash the senor triggers and switches on the interior lights, opens the locked doors, switches off the fuel pumps, and hazard lights go automatically on.
The crash sensor is located in a very hiiden place under the frame of the drivers rear seat. A blue relay, 2 screws hold it in that frame and they can only be seen when you remove the carpet.

That’s amazing! A small little system you may never need or hear of but could save you and your family some day.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I thought so... whats weird though is that, per your description, my fuel didn't cut off... still drove, but did everything else like unlocking the doors and such... very strange.
