Hi Chris.........well I just say the thread and being its New Years and all maybe X5ers will start checking in after today. Keep up the good work in here, I know you are always trying to get this forum going.
Happy New Year!!!!!!

the X5 is in Virginia, where it's needed just to get to the road! Unfortunately, the X5 is much better suited to this than the E46 M3C was...
Preppy 01-04-2003, 12:15 PM hey Brian, where in VA is Gordonsville? and wow, CA? talk about living on the other side of the country! :)
Gordonsville is near Charlottesville, in central VA. I live in VA but work in CA. I telecommute most of the time, but spend about a week+ per month in the Bay Area. We moved east and back to rural surroundings after getting sick of the traffic, rat race and expense. My cars are split - the X5 and 740 are in VA, the 528 is with my daughter in Santa Cruz, and the 325 goes where it's warmer. (ie VA in summer/fall, CA in winter/spring.)
Preppy 01-05-2003, 02:28 PM Wow, that is an interesting commute for you! Racking up those frequent flyer miles though :)
Yeah, and i would agree with the living in CA in the winter/spring.....it gets gross here in the mid-atlantic...(it's snowing as I speak :az: )
Actually I live in VA all year -- just the 325ic has it so easy :) And the frequent flyer miles are somewhat overrated, especially these days. We moved east a month and a half before 9/11 and that has made the commute far more of a hassle and a lot less fun. Then my company changed airlines and now I end up splitting miles three ways, instead of concentrating them. Oh well, I still get to live where I like and keep a good job...
I know how you feel about snow - here's the view from my front porch right now! (The garage is still being built!)
Preppy 01-05-2003, 05:26 PM Yeah. it's STILL snowing!
Isn't there some sort of deal amongst the airlines where you can merge you flyer miles into a universal account? My mom was talking to me about it, but I'm unsure if it's true or not :dunno
Yeah, must be nice to live where you want and keep a good job...then again, I'd wanna live in San Diego :)

Mods- suggestions anyone?
Age - 30
out of curiosity, is the rear end supposed to sit that high? i see all the pics of the 1's here and mine isn't even close to the same height in the rear.
broknlgs24 08-10-2004, 09:33 PM never mind all. when i went out to it this morning, it was level. i'm guessing that during transport, while tied down, they must've really cranked down on the thing.
ronin, where'd u get the tail lights?
03X530 08-10-2004, 11:10 PM Hope you don't mind Brian (broknlgs24), but how much did you get the 4.6 for and how much mileage?
Thanks
broknlgs24 08-12-2004, 08:04 AM $53k w/ 18k miles.
there was one at a dealership in GA that i was looking at, but the dealer wouldn't negotiate at all and his X5 had more mileage.
ronin, thanks for the info. regarding the tail lights.
i've been looking for accessories for my X5, but am having 1 hell of a time finding anything. any suggestions?

MyloTcat 04-23-2005, 06:48 PM Just traded a 2003 4.4i for a 2005 4.8iS. What a magnificent machine! The difference between the 4.4 and the 4.8 is palpable; and should be for the cost! I was going to do a Dinan upgrade on the 4.4, but then the dealer called and said they received an Imola red 4.8. About 5 minutes into the test drive I was sold: a powerful and responsive power train; magnificent, growly exhaust pipes; taught suspension; sticky 20" Michelin Diamaris. The only thing I can't understand, and HATE, is why they inlcude a cassette player instead of a single CD player in the Navigation head unit :confused :mad !!

lightm5 09-27-2005, 05:30 PM The x5 has a air suspension, so it will leve for those who asked if it sits too high or too low.
Also, the reason they include casette players instead of CD is because usually they have the 6 cd in the back, so you get both this way, for those who still have some tapes left over.

I would never buy the ML benz series. an 01 4.4 X5 with like 50K miles costs over 30K, you can get an 03 ML 500 for around that price with less mileage. Kinda tells you what people want, and which car will keep its value.

spenny 04-22-2006, 08:57 PM Hello all.
I'm writing from my laptop at a rest area. I needed to pull over in a heck of a rainstorm when my wipers stopped doing anything without warning. I don't have my manual so I don't know where to begin to look for a fuse. Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks

Shopping for newer high end SUV. Have it down to 3 choices X% 3.0Si, Acura MDX Sport, Lincoln MKX loaded. I've driven many other and this range of size is what I like.
So impressed by quality treatment I received at BMW of Watertown that the X5 is now at top of list even though we're looking at close to 58K as I want it equipped. Used to look at my SUV's as the throw away kind as I drive back and forth to Maine all winter from CT, but its time to upgrade and not deal with compromises anymore.
Acura dealership was terrible. Felt like I was at a fast food restaurant. Salesmen never even offered me a catalog!
zzzzkev 03-21-2008, 12:44 PM the gas mileage is unacceptable and maintenance costs outrageous. If that doesn't bother then go for it. At $3.50 a gallon I'm dying.

Be sure to check out the Bimmerforums Regionals and Events a little further down on the main page. Go to the Southwestern -US page and read the MOFO info. Lots of great car people in OKC and an active club.
Hope to see ya around at one of the upcoming events.
My wife just got a X-5 last month. I have a convertible and both of my boys have BMW's too.
chusteveb 03-25-2008, 01:31 AM I'll be sure to check that out! Looking forward to making some appearances locally with the X!

I bought my Z4 as a toy in late February 2008. Two weeks later, someone took a box-cutter to the roof and stole several items. While waiting for insurance, repair shops, etc., I found myself no longer wanting to drive my old Jeep Wrangler anymore. So back to BMW and a trade of the Jeep for my X5. I couln't be happier. The Z4 has all the options except Sport package and Nav, while I would have preferred the SMG, the Steptronic works well for commuting and cruising.
The X5 is loaded with all options except parking assist. When my driving skills replete to the point I need radar guidance to get into a parking space, I'll turn my license in!
I'll see you folks around. Take care.
RelaxdatmospR 04-03-2008, 02:57 AM Hello all,
Just wanted to say hey, just picked up my first BMW ever, never pictured my self in one. Went from a 00' Navigator to 02' Escalade to 05' H2 and now an 08' X5 4.8 very happy with my choice I was deciding between Q7 4.2, RR Sport and GL450.
I told my self I would keep it stock not even 2 weeks from getting it I picked up some replica style 214 wheels;). Now I'm debating about the fender flares and exhaust:eyecrazy. Hope to see some on the streets or meets.

Hi everybody.. I believe that I will buy a X5 4.4i one day :) Maybe 10 years later , maybe 5 years. It depends on my job.. Here in Turkey cars are too expensive , because of taxes. We have nonsense taxes cause we have an idiot president :D Some of BMW prices for now without option ;
GespenstFahrer 05-16-2008, 12:27 PM 760i Sedan 218.337.-€
530i Sedan 105.385.-€
316i Sedan 116HP 1.6 liter 4 cylinder 36.091.-€
:( M6's price is around 228.000€... Its just cause of the president.. He will be died soon i think.. Used 2001 X5 4.4i about 150K is around 30.000€..... Fkin place to LIVE .. I hope I can go to canada to live.
