1998 BMW M3 sedan. Alpine White III with Mulberry leather interior. 67k miles. First owned by Brian Leib (BMLracer) and I am the second owner. The car is located in Oklahoma City, OK. I just finished putting in a Stewart water pump, new thermostat, and radiator flush. At the same time I changed the tranny and differential fluid with Redline products and put in a new Optima red top battery. Before the car is sold I will be doing the brakes system to make sure it is in tip-top condition. The car can be seen at http://www.understeer.com/brian.shtml and the link shows all the original mods that the car came with. These pictures were taken when Brian owned the car. I have owned the car for 3.5 years and put about 37k miles on it. I really do not want to sell the car but am somewhat being forced to sell the car due to a new house. I am going to lease an E46 M3 through my business and could really use the equity in this car to apply to my home. The car is titled in my name and the title is free and clear.

This car is an absolute blast to drive and I’m really going to miss it when it is gone. It is truly a one-of-a-kind E36 M3 4-door that is literally loaded with history. The price is set high to weed out tire kickers, but I am negotiable. Please feel free to make me a serious offer. Serious inquiries only!!! $29k (If you do the math of what it would take to replicate this car, you will find that even at $29k it is a steal)

I’ve listed below the current configuration of the car. I do have Euro headers and a SS euro center section with a custom x-pipe that I will let go with the car, but one header needs repair. I will also include a LTW CF front ash tray and LTW CF center console that needs some work but would look awesome in the car. The car now has 15% tint on the windows. Below is the current list of mods. I will post current pictures when the weather gets better.

Good luck with that fellow Justin (my name too ;) I have seen that car in person. Brian had it at the Chicago Hot Import Nights in summer of 01 or 02 I forget which one. I was a newbie to the scene then and he was very friendly and talked to me about the car for a while. I remember falling in love with those 18" BBS RK's....I bought a set of 17's a few months later for my 95 318is. :)

This was the car I saw years ago on the internet that made me love alpine sedans. If it is still as nice it was, or even half, it should fetch a pretty penny, hence the free bump. Sorry you have to sell it. GL

Mods, will you please close this thread? I should have never posted it for sale. I will take much less than $29k for the car. I have only had one person give me a serious offer. This car is not for everyone and I'm perfectly happy keeping it if I need to.

Thanks for all the good comments. To the others...:wave I'm too busy to have people wasting my time. If you are serious about an offer, send me a PM. Otherwise I would appreciate it if this thread were closed so it is never bumped again. This spring the car will be marketed for sale with current pictures and a more realistic price.

nice mods. I think you'd get more for it if you parted it all out. I got 14k for my 97 M3/4 with 110k on the clock in tip top minty condition. But for the most part, the car was stock. realistically, I'd say 25k for it with all those mods.

I have bought an M3 from this seller before (I flew from Houston to Tulsa then drove it home). My experience is this: if he says the car has properties X, Y and Z, then you can take that to the bank. I was extremely pleased with the 97 techno violet sedan I bought. Unfortunately a 73 year old in a Crown Vic totaled it for me on the highway 3 months later and was lucky not to have killed my wife, but that's another story...

You've obviously never seen the car. There is close to $100k invested in that car, not including the car itself. I should know, I built it. Just about anyone here, especially the Ohioians can speak for the quality of every bit on that car. I sold it to Justin 3 years ago as one of the nicest M3/4 examples in the country, I'm sure it is still in the same condition. This is a car that deserves to fetch top dollar.

Justin, Check PM and email me.

$100k?? You've got to be kidding. The mods he listed doesn't come close to making the car worth 29k let alone show where $100k went.

The car is nice. No one doubts that.

I normally don't chime in when not interested but I'm actually looking for a white E36 M3 (or nice 325). The car is worth maybe $20,000 to the right person but I wouldn't pay it. I'd pay $20,000 for an M3 with a euro engine and tranny swap...for this car I'd pay about $17,000.

I would recommend you remove the bolt ons and return the car to stock (obviously leave the cams, software, etc). The suspension and transmission would fetch a nice amount in the 'track' classifieds section. Just seems like a 6spd is a waste if not mated to a euro engine or an S54. I'm curious where th 100K went too...I see about $20,000 of parts/labor TOPS, plus the cost of the car.

With the stuff stripped off it, I think the M3 could fetch over $16,000 and the parts would get you maybe $6000 or more.

Justin,
I recently bought a 10K miles Alpine white/black,one owner AA Turbocharged ///M3 sedan with an asking price of $38,000.Although i didn't pay his asking price but i didn't get it for mid 20's either as the forum experts valued it...
I would say you just have to wait for the right buyer to come along and for that you would definately have to look out side the BF....To most here on the forum, the main thing is the price, keep it mid teen's and you will sell the car regardless of the miles, condition and blah blah...
Good Luck with your sale,it's a very well put together car...

Good point...try roadly or advertise in the Roundel. It might take 6 months to get anything over $20,000 but that shouldn't be surprising.

I don't have the time or desire to justify what I spent on every part building that car. But, keep in mind that the car was built in 98 and 99, when things like 6 speed gearboxes weren't $1500, they cost $6000 from PTG, which is where I got the one in that car. The diff was $3500. The brakes cost $3200 at the time and that is what I paid. The cylinder head was done by ARJ Engineering. the short shift kit was a one off by Ben Liaw. The D/A Koni's were a one off kit. The stereo was done by Polk Audio and they had the car for 3 months doing the install. To duplicate that system you'd drop over $10k, but you'll never have it done by the manafacturer. I can go one and on about the parts on that car. The cam kit is something like $3000, right? Everything on that car is first class and there was no expense spared in putting that car together. It is worth far more than $17k.

But, you teenagers will never respect that there are no knock off bits, no corners cut, and no compromises in putting that car together. It was featured in Eurotuner, blown up by Car and Driver, and loved by anyone who ever spent any time behind the wheel.

The next owner will love it just as much as I did and Justin does. Heck, I'm considering buying it back myself.

You are being truthful then (I never thought you weren't) but all of these parts can be bought and installed for a fraction of these costs today. As an example I had over $50,000 into my race car when I listed it for sale. I didn't even mention that fact since it was immaterial. I was quite happy to get $25,000 for it.

I don't doubt the car is nice as it seems to have a sterling reputation. But just imagine what you could buy for less than $29,000. Euro spec M3, that E36 with S54 and 6spd, an early E46 M3 all of which would be faster and probably more fun to drive than this car. Let's keep it real...this car has an S52 with cams, a 6spd with diff and a nifty suspension. (didn't mention the stereo because they don't matter to me)

The car was not setting the bar but resetting it when it was built in 98-99. Due to the efforts of BMLRacer ,the R & D was done for the OBD-2 cam kit, Big Brake Kit and the 6 spd retrofit, among others. Perhaps these items can be obtained now at a lesser cost, but the pioneering spirit and efforts done to allow these parts to be purchased by the masses in an off the shelf fashion, would be worth something to the right buyer. This car is not the sum of the parts, but instead a watershed car for the E36 community. The next purchaser should realize this and adjust his/her mindset accordingly.
Bump for a car that tread where the rest of us will follow.

Justin has done the car proud. Like I said before, it just might end up back in my garage.
