View Full Version : Good lunch places downtown?
dos Santos 11-30-2006, 11:07 PM About once a week, I go out to lunch with the first person that walks out of the main elevators at school that has both boobs and at least 12 teeth.
j/k:stickoutt
But seriously, I'm tired of going out to Atlantic station/Tech Square for lunch with friends at school.
Are there any smaller/interesting places to go out for lunch downtown? It needs to be relatively closeby with quick service, since we don't have a whole lot of time to burn.
Any ideas from the people that work and play downtown?

Are you still in the same school???
dos Santos 11-30-2006, 11:10 PM Are you still in the same school???
Yeah. It hasn't even been one semester yet! They normally don't let people transfer within the first semester...:D

I would refer to that more as Midtown than downtown....that was why I was asking.
:wave
When are we having lunch?

Is it more midtown? I've never really understood the terms. Well, our last class is tomorrow. Then we have our study week. It's called reading week or something right? First final is next friday, then m/w/f of the following week.
Memo is due tomorrow, but i was finished with that before thanksgiving came.
And all the stories about "girls in lawschool" are correct. It's funny. Too bad 97% of our aren't the least bit attractive.
Anyways. It's all very cut-throat too. I think 3 students now are being prosecuted because of alleged help from parents in the legal field. All because of students ratting them out. And the 3 students deny doing anything...

This is true...
If your ever on Ponce near Briarcliff/Moreland, Fellini's (sp?) pizza is great.
dos Santos 11-30-2006, 11:54 PM If your ever on Ponce near Briarcliff/Moreland, Fellini's (sp?) pizza is great.
Fellini's is good, but after 4 years at Tech, where you went to Fellini's once every 2 weeks, it gets old.
bcart1991 12-01-2006, 12:22 AM Taqueria del Sol over on Northside.
dos Santos 12-01-2006, 12:24 AM Taqueria del Sol over on Northside.
Where's that? And what is good?
bcart1991 12-01-2006, 12:41 AM Take 10th or 14th west to Northside and head north. It's in a little shopping center on the left. Not far, maybe a few blocks at the most.
It's a taqueria, little dishes of mexican food. Small, soft-shell tacos, etc. It's been a little while since I've been there, but there are a lot of people there on weekends. Decent beer selection too, IIRC.
ATG has been there more recently than I.
All that time at Tech and you never knew about it?
qidm67 12-01-2006, 12:56 AM Alibaba's on Broad street and walton. Best lamb gyro's ever.

I went every week when i was at tech. Can't beat a meal for like 4 bucks :)
Taqueria del Sol over on Northside.
+1 for sure. I still go back down there every now and then. Also Figo right there is good pasta. And Chow Baby (http://www.therealchowbaby.com) down the road is cool.

I was going to type the same thing. I eat there almost every friday I am in town. The owner is very cool he always hooks me up. The grill chicken ceasar wrap is awesome.

Are you near 75/285? My office is 2 seconds from Global.
Halston Pitman 12-01-2006, 11:30 AM Beware of the JERKS that own it.
If you are NOT in the front door by 2pm. They WILL not let you in. 2pm is the cut off.
If you try to pick a seat before you order, this tall guy will get PISSED and ask if you read the rules by the door and over the order station.
Good food, get the salsa trio but make sure to follow the rules, they think they have some type of high class lunch place or something?!?!?!

Halston Pitman 12-01-2006, 12:22 PM Which resturant?
Taqueria or however it is spelled.

I've invited you many times, loser.
LoveLEE143 12-01-2006, 12:37 PM I'm going to Alibabas around 1pm, if anyone would like to go.
dos Santos 12-01-2006, 12:59 PM Prosecuted for what? And whats this story about girls in law school you speak of?
Violation of honor code stuff. Signing in other students for attendance, having lawyers proofread their papers, etc.
And the girls? Well, they're all very sexually frustrated to say the least.

Next week sometime I will make a post. It will be a later lunch. Around 1pm.
I get an hour lunch, or a bit more sometimes.
Would everyone be up for Chipotle at exit 2 on 400?

No whey. That's like 6 miles from all of us. Keep it between North and 17th and Piedmont and Northside.

You need a car that can drive farther than 6 miles. :rofl

03X530 12-01-2006, 02:47 PM Glady's Knight's Chicken & Waffles. Right across Crawford Long. Good food but if you eat it too often you might be walking across the street to the Crawford Long Cardiology Center.
95m3Lightweight 12-01-2006, 02:53 PM Taqueria or however it is spelled.
Ah, always planned on trying that place as it was close to my old office but the crowd kept me from stopping. Plus with Nuevo Laredo Cantina so close, always went there instead.
I do recommend Taqueria Sundown on Cheshire Bridge.

I miss being downtown. :( I work up in Buckhead thesedays, and the selection isn't the same (i.e.: there isn't a Broad Street around there anywhere).
Law school girls like to get crunk. :devillook

dos Santos 12-05-2006, 12:51 AM I forgot this thread existed.
Thanks for all the advice on where to go.
Karl/Bill, lunch would be good one day, but it will have to wait till the 15th comes, and the semester is over. I'm paranoid that any deviation from my final's preparation routine will result in a catastrophic failure.
And yes, I realize that bf.c is not contributing to that routine... :(

ATL30339 12-06-2006, 07:26 PM A good italian bistro is Baraonda - corner of Peachtree and 3rd street next to the BellSouth center. Good eats, good prices and good sights. And parked on 3rd street outside are what look like original Minis only smaller - I think they're Fiats.
