View Full Version : Going to boston! Need some advice!
stupenal 11-28-2006, 04:29 AM Hey guys,
I'll be visiting Boston for a couple of days in December (GF is going to visit New England College of Optometry) and was just wondering what else Boston is famous for. Sadly it isn't baseball season as I've always wanted to catch a game at Fenway. I went to Boston 9 years ago, so I don't remember much except walking around at Harvard.
More importantly, besides places to visit, I'm looking for a cheap cheap place to stay that is somewhere close to the subways. A motel 6, days inn, something of that sort. Does anyone know of a good place to stay? I won't have my car with me, so transportation will be solely through subway and taxis, so the closer/more convenient the better.
Thanks!
Kevin E21 11-28-2006, 04:38 PM Harvard square is alright, lots of places to shop, and eat. The Boston common is alright, it's nice to walk around especially if there is snow on the ground. Maybe take your GF ice skating on Frog pond? I dunno much else about Boston. I actually try to avoid Boston for the most part. Too much traffic for my taste.
JBpka06 11-28-2006, 04:48 PM get a bite in the north end and do some shopping on Newbury street.

Those are some good ideas. I didn't know Lamborghini Boston was a common attraction though, haha.
I'm assuming you are 21, so here is a great list of bars/restaurants around Boston. And not having a car is fine, the T is an incredible mode of transportation. You just have to understand where each stop is located in relation to where you want to go.
–> The Linwood Grill - 69 Kilmarnock St. (Off of Boylston St. near Fenway)
–> Cambridge Brewing Company - One Kendall Square, Cambridge
–> Boston Beer Works (Fenway) - 61 Brookline Ave.
–> Boston Beer Works - 112 Canal Street (Across from TD Banknorth Garden)
–> Redbones - 55 Chester St., Somerville
–> John Harvard’s Brewhouse - 33 Dunster Street, Cambridge
–> Sunset Grill - 130 Brighton Ave., Allston
–> The Publick House - 1648 Beacon St., Brookline
I truly think Boston is the greatest city, in my mind, because it has everything a city should offer and as long as you spend some time looking at maps, you learn the city quickly. NY is great, but it's huge and I haven't gotten to know it well yet. Boston is very comfortable and the food is incredible. You need to go to the North End. Any restaurant will be great and hit up Mike's Pastry on Hanover St.
