Hello Everyone

Wondering what it takes to get a new key for my 1976 2002?
My eight year old daughter decided to open her piggy bank with my only key (yes I am stupid).

Would prefer not to pay a locksmith ( any ideas )?

there is a code for the key on the actual cylinder for the key. Get a blank off ebay or if some you know has one and then take it to a key place/locksmith place and have one made.

if all of your cylinders are keyed the same take one of the door handles off and take it to a locksmith and get a key made....then just get the key copied.
OR - If you have some technical/mechanical skils you can get a blank and make your own key by grinding and filing it to sit in one of your cylinders until the teeth sit flat and you have effectively made a key...its the same process the LS will use.

If you have the original steering column pad underneath, just look for the metal plate with some numbers on it below. Take that number along with proof of ownership to the dealer and they can make one for you. I think it is a 5 or 6 digit number.

This number might also be stamped on the drivers side door handle if you take it off.
