Hey... just moved to Chapel Hill from Philly, PA and I'm looking for a good bimmer shop to maintain my car. I checked out one on Main St. but they only install parts they supply. Does any one know any good places in the Raleigh - Durham area? Thanks

Shadetree Garage in North Raleigh (www.stgbmwservice.com) comes highly recommended. Not too far from Chapel Hill.

BTW, don't expect to find alot of shops who are willing to stand behind their work if you bring them parts to install. It's no secret that shops make $$$ off of parts they supply and install, but they will also (usually) give some sort of guarantee if you buy parts from them.

IMHO it's often false economy to try to save a few dollars sourcing your own parts. Keep in mind I am a professional cheapskate- so it sort of pains me to even admit this..... :)

I've heard great things about European Performance! http://www.europeanperformance.net/
My car will be there in a few weeks for a head rebuild and clutch install!

OT: Welcome to NC! A bunch of us are members to a Euro club called NCEuro. We do monthly meets! Great group of guys/girls!

+1 for European Performance
Among other things, they replaced one of the rear control arms on my old 540 this past Spring. They're very helpful and have a decent assortment of Euros for sale out front to look at while you're waiting. When i got the car back from the control arm replacement it was shockingly clean; they must've detailed it while they had it, and holy hell, it was nearly as clean as I could have gotten it---spotless. Highly impressive.

Just drop by and say hi if you like. There's no "signup sheet" or anything.

I know I just randomly showed up at one of the meets(well, photoshoot, actually) one weekend after having posted a little bit on the messageboard. There are monthly meets at various bars around the area. There's one coming up on Tuesday, actually. Check the meets/events forum. I haven't been to one yet, but am debating going to this one.

If you are willing to drive a little (down to the beach so it isn't all bad) German Speed Merchants in Wilmington is supposed to be pretty good. I have never used them but know a lot of people who have.

They do a lot of SCCA and Grand Am prep work.

I know this is an old thread so this may no longer be relevant, but I work for shade tree so I have to reccomend it ;) I'm in the process of opening another shop here in Raleigh as well so feel free to shoot me an email if you would like to discuss any work. Nick@bavarianindependent.com

I've been going to Shade Tree Garage for several years. Tuett and Dietrich at Shade Tree are great guys. They know what they're talking about about, and the rates are very reasonable. Highly recommended!

Anyone know a good place in Cary to do a 4 wheel alignment on the M3?
