ok well this holiday weekend was going to be when I did my suspension. figured 3 days would give me more than enough time...well i was wrong.
i planned on starting with the fronts friday, but after some shopping i didnt really get to start till 4pm. the 2 hours of daylight left were mostly spent on fighting with the damn caliper mounting bolts...and loosing.
didnt get to start till noon on sat. but i figure w/ about 6 hours, i should get the front done. well as it turned out, that was not the case. saturday weas spent mostly going back and forth to autozone (i have a small set of hex keys that went 5, 6, and 8mm and i needed a 7mm. WTF?) and home depot (too cheap to buy a breaker bar so i got a 2' metal pipe instead) to pick up some tools i didnt have and wasting too much time on the stupid UGA/GT game. so i was only able to remove the strut housing on the passenger side.
today i got the other strut housing off early, but i couldnt remove the top nut. finally decided to take it to a friends house b/c they had air tools. but for some reason, it still took awhile to install the new shocks and spring and was about 6pm when i got back home ready to put the strut housing back in. installation wasnt as bad as the removal, mainly b/c i didnt have to fight with the bolts. worst part was getting it back up and lined up with the steering plate.
now i still have the thrust arms to do and the rear suspension. but after this weekend, i think im just going to call it quits for now and just find a shop to finish the work. the car has been on stands for entirely too long and im lucky noone has reported me to the HOA president yet.
oh and im still not done. apparently i lost one of the brake pads, so tomorow im going to get the cheapest one from autozone to last me a few months when rotors would have to be replaced.
so anyone have an estimate as to how much a rear suspension and thrust arms install will set me back? since im guessing im going to be needing an alignment after all of this, how much do those usually run and can i just take it to some local goodyear, or is there some special equipment needed? wasnt there a GT something shop that was suppose to be real good?
