hey guys, as you can tell im new, but i had some questions, so i felt that this is the right place to ask em. I saw a post about someone wanting to turbocharge an m3, and this is rather similar. after looking around in my e34 wagon, it looks like i have enough engine space for a possible turbo setup. some things might have to be moved around, but my main wonder is how much boost this engine can take.

engine:
m50 2.5l i-6 w/ VANOS
[in '93 525iT, bone stock, but very well maintained]

so yeah, if anyone has tried anything like this, or would know, id love to hear from you.
Thanks!

The car since it's vanos can easily take 6 psi daily no problems. It should be able to handle 10 psi daily. UrineMachine on here runs 10psi on his non-vanos 525i easily with high mileage, 200k+. Issue with the non-vanos vs. the vanos is that the non vanos rods are much thicker.

You should be able to run 10psi with a good tune.

excellent, thanks man.
with a garret or turbonetics t3/t4 hybrid on there, possibly IC'd, any idea how much pressure it could muster, or how much power i could expect to see from it?

MLS gasket and ARP studs, away you go. Look over in the FI forum. A member took his 328 up to 700hp before he bent a rod with just the gasket and studs I mentioned.

Now that's what I like to see.
