Hello all. Traded in the 530i for this lovely machine with all the goodies including nav and smg. Didn't know it was lowered at first. I have never driven a stock M3 but the ride on this is very harsh. It has the H&R lowering springs with stock struts. Springs were dealer installed.

This is going to be my everyday driver for a while until I can get another car and keep the M3 as a toy. I need to go back to stock height and ride.

What is the best way to do this? I have seen stock springs on ebay for cheap but have been told the rear springs (and shocks for that matter) for the convertible are stiffer.

Does anybody have a set of very low mile springs they want to sell. My car has 35k and and 23k of that is with the H&R lowering springs. Do I need new struts as well (do they wear out faster with lowering springs)?

The cheapest labor I can find to put on stock springs is $500.00 Not sure if this includes the alignment or not.

Is there any aftermarket solution I should be looking at that will give me a stock height and a less stiff ride? I don't want to spend a fortune on a coilover kit. Are there any kits that don't require using a spring compressor?

Help! I love my new car but the harsh ride is killing me.

Do you have the OEM 19's? I do with the stock suspension and I'd agree with you, upon first impression, the ride is very harsh. Give it a little time to see if you get aclimated, as the 530i is a much different type of ride.

BTW, when we purchased our 2004 X3, which had a reputation for a stiff ride, it took some time getting used to the ride quality ... but one tends to adapt.

I have the stock 18s. I have never driven a completely stock M3 but I have been told the H&R lowering springs make for a rougher ride. I also want to be able to get the salt off the bottom of the car in the winter and that is impossible now. The car is too low.

Well, you can look at Eibach. They drop the car very little and some say the ride is better than stock. You can use oem struts with them as well. You might want to replace struts. You say they have around 20k miles with the H&R's. The H&R springs will wear the oem strut faster due to the spring rate of the H&R. Look on all of the forums and Ebay. I am sure you can find some low milage oem struts for a good price. Good luck!

I am looking at the Ground Control coil over conversion kit. It uses the Eibach springs. It costs $419 for just the kit or $1089 for the kit with Konis.

Thanks for the help.
