Hi all,

Here to solicit some advice and it was suggested I come here to get input from people that are in the know...some dumb lady backed into me at Tysons Mall (so ticked now) and now there is a scratch on my black BMW 330Ci. Personally I don't know jacksh*et about cars and shops in the area but I was hoping some of you all would be able tell me what are good paint & body shops in the area (and which ones to avoid). Any thoughts would be appreciated...I've heard that you have to be careful who you goto b/c if they dun do it right it could look like crap or the paint wouldnt even match the rest of your car.

Also, what kind of things should I be looking for when and asking the paint/body guys? What are the things to watch out for?

Thanks for your help.

three places come to mind,

mastercrafters in Rockville, Zamoras in Rockville

and wagonwerks (or something like that) in alexandria

i've only used zamoras and i think i've used mastercrafters before (i just dropped it off with my mechanic and i think he brought it to mastercrafters)

wagonwerks or whatever its called is supposed to be the best in the DC area, its just a haul

KURZ automotive in gaithersburg, md. A little far; but, definitely quality work....many older vette owners go there to have their vehicles restored (paintwise).

They'll do a quality job as well as the others mentioned here. If you are trying to save money -- go elsewhere, no price break here ... but worth every penny!

Wagonwerks is the one that everybody talks about. But, the waiting list is long and they are more expensive than comparable shops. I had all my work done at Auto Restorations in Springfield, VA by Andy Chang (703-455-5525) and you can tell him I sent you.

I was recently hit by a Saturn and had my car taken to D & V Autobody in Chantilly, VA this time just to see what they could do. I will let you know what the results are when I finally get the car back.

did you tell them that if they drive the car more than .1 miles, the vehicle will self-detonate and level everything in a one mile radius?? hehhe.....

Thanks for the information. I got an appointment scheduled with Wagonworks now.

Has anyone heard of First Choice? A friend of mine recommended them to me also. I wanted to be able to look at a couple of shops in case Wagonworks wouldn't be able to get me in there (or if I'd have to sell my first born child to pay for the repairs :laugh  ) Thanks.
