heys guys, just got a 97 328i and the pin stripe is faded...what can I do to remove it completely?

Use a heat gun or a blow drier on a low heat to soften the adhesive. The you will be able to use something to assist in pealing the tape off. This can be a finger nail, popcile stick or a rounded credit card corner. Once the tape stripe is removed, use an adhesive remover, such as 3M Adhesive Remover and get the remaining gumy residue off.

If you replacing the pin strips, be sure to clean the area well with alcohol to remove any residue and reapply the tape stripes, otherwise be sure to wash and wax the area to protect it.

I wetsanded mine with 2000 grit. I won't say it wasn't a PITA, but it worked out nicely.

Good suggestions. I have heard of dental floss and WD 40 as well. :)

his pinstripe is painted on, as was mine. It might come off with lacquer thinner, but it will probably need to be wetsanded.

I used rubbing compound and it worked very good Then I just waxed it. I have half of it done already.
