I just got my front bumper painted last week and Im planning on driving from Richmond Virginia to New York City. Any suggestions on how to protect fresh paint from the long highway drive? Thanks.

I was thinking just putting painters tape but Im afraid that it might mess up new paint.

haha I was going to say that you can retape your bumper Estoril blue with blue painters tape...
I don't think that it'll harm the paint.

The paint it wouldnt hurt. Depending on how long the curing process is for the clear, thats another story.

If its been about 7 days since repaint, you'll be fine.

I got a clear bra to protect my paint... looks great, relatively inexpensive as well (~200 for the hood). If you just got new paint I would seriously consider investing in this, as it will provide the most protection for not only this trip but for years to come if you care for it as you would care for your paint.

Do the blue painters tape for the trip there.
I'd remove the tape when I arrived at the destination and reapply for the trip back home. I know it's a pain but the first batch of tape won't be on long enough to bond to the paint. The blue isn't supposed to bond anyway but why take chances. Tape is cheap.

Also, if you're going to be hanging your arm out the window during the trip - TAPE 'ER UP!. :) Sorry, couldn't resist.

how long have you had it on? i dont like those because after a few months, they dont shine like the rest of the car and they end up being very visible.
