Just a quick question guys. Did any 5 series up 2003 come with a navigation package? Thing is that I am in the market but cannot find one with a navi package on autotrader.

Nope. It is an available option but was not standard.

Navi is not standard in any BMW. It is always an option. Even on the M5 & M6. Although to be honest, I have never seen an M5 without it.

The window sticker that came with mine showed it to be something like a $2600 add on. So I'd guess there were lots of people who decided to skip on that...especially if they were buying non-sport pkg cars.

My wife wanted one in any used 540 I buy. I figured, why bother. I can get her a handheld unit and swap it between cars. They are getting very cheap.

I was always under the impression that even though it was an "option" you basically couldn't order an M5 without it.

If you can afford an M5 then another $2K is nothing...

not true for the 7 series...navigation became standard equipment on the 2000/2001 e38 7 series...and is standard equip on all of the e65/e66 7 series as well.

I installed a portable TomTom unit ($500) in my right front cupholder (finally found a use for those stupid things). The bonus is, I can unplug it and take it with me when I fly/rent a car. Can't do that w/ a $2k built-in unit. Sorry for the quality of the pict. but you can get the idea.

my 02 had it but I ended up taking it out when I re-did the audio system. I put in a Pioneer N3 that still has nav and controls all the rest of the bells & whissles.
