hi - I am the present owner of a 95 M3, I used to own another 95 M3, 91 318iS and an 84 325e - so I'm no stranger to BMW quirks and maintenance issues!

I am doing some research on 4 wheel drive vehicles and would like a little input on this.

Generally speaking, does the 325Xi suffer any mechanical/maintenance downsides over its RWD siblings? (ie: bad transfer case designs, leaky seals, low expected lifetime, etc) I recall that the E30 (1980s/1990s) 325iX was a bit more maintenance intensive than the standard model. I don't mind changing the fluid in an extra differential or anything, and I realize they are heavier/slower/etc

but do they have more problems?
