Does BMW plan on introducing a new more powerful V8 to the X5 in the spring? The new X5 4.8 is downs 5hp and 19lb of tq, is this engine taking the spot of the 4.4? Its also a half second slower 0-60. I havent had a chance to drive a new X5 yet, if its the old X5 plus more it will definately be fun to drive. But I definately like the new styling, internet pictures dont it justice you have to see it in person.

WTF are you comparing it to? The new 4.8 is the replacement for the 4.4 not the old 4.8, and in comparision to the 4.4 it has gotten nothing but gains everywhere. Faster 0-60, better gas mileage, more hp, and alot more room with it.

I thought it would only be logical to compare the old 4.8 to the new 4.8. That makes sense to me, such was the case with the 3.0 six, outgoing one was 225hp and the new one was 255hp.

The 4.8 in the 4.8is was a very different beast tahan the new 4.8. The new 4.8 is a replacement to the outgoing 4.4, a replacement to the old 4.8 will probably arrive a year or two after release.

The old E53 4.8 was an X5 version of an M vehicle, the new E70 4.8 is just a normal V-8 version. I have no clue what they will put in the E70 next, but a V-10 sure would be nice.

E53 3.0i, 4.4i, 4.6is, 4.8is
E70 3.0si inline 6, 4.8i V8, ??????
Drove the new E70 3.0si inline 6, very nice, had good pick up and its drive by wire system is smoother than the E60 530i.
