I believe we covered something north of 200 miles total for the day, and we had Richard Dana in tow working on his documentary on the 2002. He's shown in several of the photos.

Enjoy!
visionaut 11-15-2006, 02:38 AM Nice pics, Keith - thanks. Looks like you folks had some great weather and a fine collection of 02s on your outing. BTW, was that one guy washing his car in the dark? - I thought I was the only one crazy enough to do that. ;-)
Tom (aka visionaut)
my2002tii 11-15-2006, 03:09 AM Visionaut, you're not crazy... They do recommend washing your car in the shade you know!
Every time I decide to make a trip to Arkansas this year, I'm met with a few days of rain before hand... Whats up with that? The sun was just coming up, I think Bo's camera exaggerates the appearance of me doing this in the dark.
Maybe 2007 will be a dry year for Stella and road trips heading South!.

Andy, stop beating yourself up. You have a long way to go on those fronts IMHO!!! Chris needs a Budweiser in his hand and this would be a good shot of you both.
Alpine003 11-15-2006, 01:55 PM It seems like a nice meet you guys had.
Andy, I admire that strut bar.
Keith, is that blue bulbs in your car?
2many02s 11-15-2006, 09:12 PM Lol Keith, I was looking at eh pics again. there are some beautiful cars. I love your paint. I want your cup holder, hehe. The one at the winery cracks me up. When the guys were sampling the vintages, I look like i'm already inbto about 2 bottles! For those of you close and can make this drive it is awesome! I had to get into the brakeshard acouple of times just to avoid hitting the sheer rock face on the turns
my2002tii 11-16-2006, 12:03 AM Keith, is that blue bulbs in your car?
You noticed... I'm using the PIAA Ultra White H4 bulbs. They really look blue in the daylight when not turned on if you look close. At night they show a blue spot if you look at the reflection of your headlights on the car in front of you. However, they don't look that way when you see them coming towards you - only look really white compared to regular bulbs. The color to the eyes however is very neutral, not like the blue bulbs they sell on eBay LOL.
I've let a few people drive the car at night who are 02 folks, thats the first thing they notice about the visibility - it's good. Those are BOSCH H4 reflectors.
The bulbs are way pricey and were about $60 as I recall, but I know PIAA is a name brand and sometimes you pay that (Koni, Schrick, etc) but I think they are worth it. I hardly used the high beams because the low beams are so efficient already.
Andy, I hope some of the 100 miles of driving I did with Rich Dana in the car with his new video camera in-car mount/stabilizer bears fruit when we are talking about the "experience" of driving our roads out here. I know he told me that Ron Rinke gave him quite a ride and I think he may have a new appreciation of where the center of gravity is in a 2002 :eyecrazy
2many02s 11-16-2006, 09:24 AM I guess i should publicly state that I got left behind a few times due to traffic and had to catch up. One stretch of road, I was behind a couple of famiilies sight seeing and eventually they nudged over for me to pass. I made the rest of that run at 3 digits on the speedo,(about 10 miles) Bo's route this year was just awesome!
Alpine003 11-16-2006, 10:59 AM You noticed... I'm using the PIAA Ultra White H4 bulbs.
Keith,
I'm not a BMW "purist" by any means and was just busting your chops. No need for any explanation. PIAA, enough said. :) Hopefully next year, I can start participating in 02 events.
P.S. I like to bust Andy's chops too about his reverse shift knob trend. :D

No, I wasn't taking it the wrong way on what you said. I think there are several people wondering if those bulbs are any good.
Your car needs to get out and be driven, and hard like it was designed for. We're all voting to have you come down from the windy city to drive with us next year.

2many02s 11-16-2006, 03:51 PM Couple more years and I will be able to make the windy city. Need a couple more drivers in the house before momma will cut me loose.
