You'll need either the TV module, or an aftermarket TV adaptor like EAS's VSM or some Dietz kit. This provides you with a standard TV in connector. Alternatively you can hookup your computer directly to the RGsB lines, if you want to tweak video resolutions to adjust to the correct frequencies of the LCD. I'll go for the EAS module for our X3 as soon as I recover from the Christmas-gifts-spending-season :) Nowa 06-09-2007, 12:44 PM Hi, I'm a newbi, just picked up a Z4 2004 with pro. nav (pop out screen) and TV module last week. What I'd really like to do is to connect my HDD player to the screen (video and audio) I've noticed that using the TV there is a A/V channel so am I correct in assuming that somewhere there should be a A/V connector? Davipt mentioned that you must have a TV module (or a aftermarked TV module) to connect video to the screen, I've got the "originally fitted" TV module but where is the A/V connector? Please help... Thanks in advance davipt 06-09-2007, 01:38 PM If you already have the tv module, you won't need anything else besides a special cable to provide you the AV connectors, like this (http://search.ebay.de/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&from=R10&_trksid=m37&satitle=AV+Video+Audio+Bild+%26+Ton+f%FCr+BMW+E46+ E39+X5+X3+Z4+Z3&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&bs=Finden&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D3&sadis=200&fpos=Postleitzahl&ga10244=10425&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=1%26fsoo%3D1&coaction=compare&copagenum=1&coentrypage=search). (note: i'm not recommending this ebay vendor, it was just the first one I found on ebay.de) Note that this will provide you audio input in mono. To get stereo sound you'll need something more advanced, or maybe connect the video here and the audio to the aux (if you have it) stereo connector. But this is just theory from my side :( I have no BMW TV module, and got a Dietz 1260 for a X5 (for a cheap price) which lacks the navi->tv cable, and is not exactly the same as the X3 version and I have no guts to try it in the car. :(( Nowa 06-09-2007, 05:12 PM Thanks for an excellent reply Davipt! This is just what I've been looking for, I just didn't know you could get an adapter cable like this... I'm originally from Sweden but my German (that I learned for 6 years) is a bit rusty, so could you just see if there is anything mentioned in the description of the item about "instructions" ? What I'm looking for is some instructions about where to find the TV module and the cable that needs replacing. If I understand the description correctly, this cable just replaces the original fitted cable ? It actually looks quite simple, the Comp. video connector and sound have just been "added on" to the original cable. The question again is however where I find the original cable to replace ? Are there any instructions ? I think I will try this, strange however that the sound is only mono, I guess this means that the TV also only give you sound in mono... Thanks again! /Pete |
