I currently drive a 2004 vw touareg v6 fully loaded. I bought it new about 2.5 years ago and have loved it since the day I bought it.

But an interesting situation has come upon me recently. My grandfather is going to be getting rid of my grandmothers 2003 x5 4.4i soon. Its equipped with every possible option offered on that car. nav, xenons, full aero body kit (the one with the muscular side protection stuff on the wheel wells), park distance control, 20 inch wheels. Its loaded in every sense. The car goes out of warranty in a few months so my grandfather was considering getting rid of it.

Heres the kicker. The cars only got 10k miles on it. Hes gonna get a trade number on both my car as well his and I will pay the difference. Ive always liked driving it and think I could be happy with it. The question I pose is what others think about this deal? As well how many mods are there available to get this thing up to around 300+hp.

03 is either 282 or 290hp w 324 ftlbs of torque

When ever I have any work done on my E39 the dealership lets me take a car home. The first time I had work done I got an 05' V8 Touareg. I liked it. Seccond time I got an 06' 4.4 with all options. I loved it! third time I got a V10 Touareg Desil. DDAAAMMMM! In your situation I think you will be more then happy with the 4.4 V8 BMW has to offer. It is a fun vehicle to drive! Not quite as fun as that V10 Desil Touareg but you will feel like a million bux driving it :) My wife and I are trying to decide now on the 4.4 or the 4.8. She doesn't think we need that much power... I think different ;)

My wife has an 06 X5 4.4 and loves it. I have a E55 and Jeep SRT. Get the JEEP!!!!!!!!!

Love my "03 4.4. as much as the day I bought it.Still looks brand new.Only 23K.
That year has been reliable and trouble free.At least for me.No peeling door handles here and still has great kick.Although,I did just buy my wife a new '07 Lexus ES350.I'm loving that, too.Am I getting old or what?I think I may loose my loving X5 to her,and I'll be driving the Lexus.Is that a bad thing???

I really like the X5 as a daily driver. I like driving it as much as the M3.
