Hi,
2 weeks ago, i had a sort of, emergency, and i pressed the "SOS" button on my BMW x3 '06. I got a message on the CD player screen "BMW assist inactive" !!! WTF !!!!

and infact.. i was scared !!.. Although my need at that time wasnt that critical.. but, what if i were on a freeway and had a flat tire ?? i dont have AAA... So, whats the point of having BMW "Assist" and not getting any assistance..

to my knowledge AAA doesnt fail any time... they are atmost delayers..

and today i checked my credit card... they billed me for the 2nd year of subscription...

I can only laugh..

do you have bluetooth? if you do that's why you don't have assist, also, if you bought the car used they should have provided you with the history report which shows if the assist is active or not, and before i forget, assist is a paid suscription service from BMW, it's not for free, check all that, give'm a call and get it turned on again.

I was under the impression that if you have a flat tire you would change it.

Well.. i dont know if i have bluetooth.. but i do know i have BMW assist.. it used to work before...

and yes.. i gave them the benefit of doubt, that my subscription got expired.. but today... i saw my credit card statement... it was billed automatically...

so.. i must be having it 2 weeks ago too.. more over.. i bought my SAV only last nov..

GoodFlyguy..

My intention was.. what if i wanted Road side assistance...
also.. i dont have a spare tire in my vehicle..

Do the following:

(1) Place a test call to Assist from your driveway at your convenience. They are very nice and don't mind the bother. They will also check that the location part is working correctly, verify your license plate number, etc.

(2) If the call doesn't go through, schedule a service appt. This is covered by the warranty, and there have been faulty units that need to be reset or replaced.

Your car might be part of a recall that is going on for this problem. I recomend you drive your car over to the nearest dealer and let them read your key to see if your vehicle is part of the recall.

if you give me the last 7 of your vin#, I can check to see if your BMW assist is active or not. Or, just go to your local dealer and have them run it
