- Need to get my wfe out of awfully boring Honda Pilot. Ths car has after market remote start installed.

- Plan on getting 07 X3. We wil buy, not lease.

- Remote Start is a must have for my wife. She wants Mazada cx-7 since it comes standard.

- Not looking to begin holy war discussion about stupidity of remote start. Other married guys know what I am about to say. If she does not have it she will curse me each time she gets into cold/snowy car with frozen icy windshield. Not worth the hassle to me.

- Any suggestions on a brand that you know works? Model? Installer around Rochester, NY that will not mess up the car.

- I do not want one that requires car to be re-start when key put in ignition.

Thanks for the help.

I would suggest VIPER or any other DEI brand remote start. I would also suggest stopping by a Best Buy and have them look up what other parts will be needed, since they can get expensive if you aren't planning on it. I also know you can keep the factory key fob if you want the downside to that is you are limited to the range of the key, where the Separate Fob will have a mile+ range.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

If you are planning on buying the 07 X3, you should talk to BMW dealer see if they have that function otherwise if you install an after market remote start on the new 07 X3 your new car warrenty will automatically void.

I do NOT believe if installed by a certified professional that it will void the warranty, Unless BMW is different than most auto manufactures.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

ONLY if you install the parts at the BMW center otherwise they will NOT hold responsible for any damage or broken parts but I don't think they'll install the after market parts for you other than OEM parts.

Well, basically the information I got is from my local BMW dealer when I purchased my car. All I'm saying is, just to make sure, you should really go visit your local BMW dealer and find out more about this matter before you go ahead and added some after market parts to your new car.

The only warranty problem would be something tht is directly caused by the aftermarket parts or directly caused by the installation of those aftermarket parts (i.e. drilling for wiring, ect...)

Just keep in mind that by installing a remote start system, you are automatically crippling the antitheft systems on the vehicle. Those have to be bypassed to allow the car to start without a key in the ignition.

any of you read the part in the manual that says to not let the car sit and warm up, to start it and drive?

The 07 X5 has a remote start listed as option. Maybe the X3 does as well??
