View Full Version : M tech body kit?
AutoXSS 11-12-2006, 10:21 PM Im lookin to buy a sport model, its a 98'. Can anyone post a pic of the sport Mtech bumpers/side moldings/ and rear bumper? Another thing, Do all sport models in 98 have 15 or 16 inch wheels?
Also, did any of the Ti's come with LSD? Is it part of a winter package?
SDKmann 11-12-2006, 11:08 PM I would think that all sports would have 16in 5 spokes but Im not 100% sure. A few tis came with a LSD. The 95 Club Sport for sure came with one and Im pretty sure that the 99 Sport had one stock too. As far as I know, and Im not 100% sure on this either, the ti was the only non M car after 96 that had or was offered with a LSD.
AutoXSS 11-13-2006, 11:27 PM anyone have some light to shed on this one?

Also, did any of the Ti's come with LSD? Is it part of a winter package? The M-technic package is the same as a M3 luxury package. Wide side mouldings, black rear valence and slats instead of mesh in the front bumper. (Rear valence is unique to the ti but looks similar to the M3)
They came with 16" 5 spokers.
95 Club Sport had an LSD. LSDs where an option until sometime in 1996 when ASC was standard.
I don't believe there was a winter package. Heated seats was an option.
Heated washer jets, mirrors and door handles are standard.
This is a Sport with a California Roof.

I'll have to dig my window sticker out...I think mine has the winter package.
SDKmann 11-14-2006, 03:59 PM I know that for all other models after 96 there was no LSD but someone from 318ti.org posted that the 99 sports came with a LSD stock. Is that true or did tis lose that option with the rest of the non-M cars?

drkblu318ti 11-14-2006, 09:27 PM Sorry for the hijack.....but
How can you tell if you have an LSD anyways? I have a 96 Cali with no asc .... how do i tell? both tires seem to spin when i want them to.
SDKmann 11-14-2006, 09:31 PM From what steven said i think if its not a 95 it dosnt have a LSD.
torjthm 11-14-2006, 09:50 PM do a burn out .. thats one of the easiest ways i know ... if you have an open diff then you will see one tire spinning faster then the other .. or more smoke from one side of the car .. i believe the passenger side is the power wheel on the oppen diff ... i cant remember ... i put an lsd in mine and remember every thing about my old diff ... and if the ti is in good shape and you like the car and the only thing thats holding you back is the lsd .. you can always do a swap ... its not to hard to find one .. and usually your mechanic can do it for you ... i did mine my self it wasnt to hard
scabzzzz 11-17-2006, 05:43 PM check out my sig...
kickass95318ti 11-17-2006, 11:22 PM try doing a donut? would that help you?
dustent 11-18-2006, 12:45 AM jack up the car, spin one wheel. If the other wheels spins the same way, its a LSD.
lkwd318ti 11-19-2006, 05:32 AM Most (if not all) sports had these rims on it...

This is how a side view looks (stock sport)
http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c270/lkwd318ti/CARS/IMG_0282a.jpg
And here's the front end...

Usually when you're looking for a sport...Check out the REAR BUMPER and make sure it looks like my rear bumper. (People usually tend to not change that bumper as often as the front one because it's more expensive and harder to find.)
Check out the interior too. If it has half leather and half cloth, then it SHOULD be a sport package.
If it's 100% leather or 100% cloth, then it isn't.

coleco 11-25-2006, 10:09 PM the LSD diff was in the clubsport limited edition TIs you can find them used on rare occasion such as i did on 318ti.org a while back. there is a marking on the LSD diff i just forget what it is. maybe it was a white "S" on the top of the diff. i cant remember /sigh
