My 1.9 liter has been recently diagnosed with a possible cracked headgasket / cracked head
I am looking into the possibility of doing a new engine instead of the repair..cost versus reward..

My question is this...is the 2.5 liter motor from a 525 the same as the 325? If so , will the cpu and harness from the 525 interchange as well or will I need the cpu and harness from a 3 series 2.5 ? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!:bawl

I think the answer is yes... the motor is the same. I think the answer is the cpu and harness from the 5 series will work.

I KNOW if I were in your shoes... I'd ask the professionals.

anyone else have any input....is the engine the same?...will it bolt right in like the 325 motor does?...what about the cpu and harness, will they fit or will I need to buy a harness and cpu from a 325 to make this work?

I actually received the info I needed from tc kline. If anyone is interested, the oil pan and sending unit is on opposite sides of the engine. The harness and cpu are not believed to be compatable
