i am stuck dead in the water here. i have had my car out of commission for 7 weeks all over a hose. apparently nobody has the hose anywhere in stock. it is a 98 740i.

what had initially happened was the hose must have leaked and i never noticed, causing the auxiliary water pump to develop a crack and break. i replaced the aux. pump and hadn't noticed the hose at the time, but when i saw it was still leaking i quickly found the hose in question. the hose goes from the aux. pump to the right cylendar head. the part number is 64.21-4 146 400. any advice in finding this part would be appreciated. if any of you have one lying around, i would be MORE than happy to buy it off of you.

Have you tried www.realoem.com (http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=GG83&mospid=47528&btnr=11_2267&hg=11&fg=35)?

Possibly you don't have the right part #?

Here's a pointer to a diagram of the heater system. I don't see the # you mention (PS: you may need to tweak the manufacturing date by clinking on "Select Another Car" at the top)

Real OEM - 98 740i - Heating/Cooling System (http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=GG83&mospid=47528&btnr=64_0621&hg=64&fg=18)

re: plik unfortunately the hose isnt in either of the links you sent me (or the diagram you just posted) the hose comes off of the auxiliary water pump (AKA the heater valve)

the part number i entered was firectly off of the hose that i have sitting in front of me. looking at the diagram that rimasl2 has posted it looks like the hose i need is lucky number 7. when i do a search for part number 64218380270 as opposed to part number 64214146400 (right off the hose) i get plenty of hits for it.

thanks for the help guys i think you solved my dilema!! i will swing by my mechanic on monday with a copy of the diagram in hand and fly right to BMW to see if they have it on hand. as usual, you guys are life savers.

I just replaced all 4 hoses on my 99 740i sport that are located on the fire wall two go to the aux pump. If I were you I would replace all 4 hoses - its easier and you will have to remove the other 3 to change the one you are talking about. I had to get all four from the BMW dealer here in cincy i think it was around 70.00 for all four hoses. Will save you in the long run my experience with these small hoses is once one goes they all go and as you have found will not be in stock when it blows in the middle of no where.
