View Full Version : Road Rage? -- I got followed ... by another 7 series

Today I was driving down the freeway and found myself coming up to another E38. I thought, "Sweet. A brother-in-wheels." We drove along together for several miles like wingmen of the road.

Then, it was time for me to exit and leave the side of my 7-series comrad, but then I noticed that he was getting off at the same exit. Coincidence?

He pulled up really clost behind me at the stop light, then (after the light turned green) he started tail-gating me. I drove around town a little to rule out the possibility of a coincidence. And then I realized -- he was really following me everywhere I went.

I was a little worried.

Now, I'm a big a guy and I can take care of myself, but I don't want to fight a crazy person, especially a crazy person that I don't know.

I went into a turning lane at an intersection, as if I was going to make a left turn. Sure enough, that guy was right behind me. There was a break in traffic and I could have turned, but I waited until the last possible moment to turn before the next swarm of traffic came through the intersection. Instead of making a left turn I made a u-turn and gunned it. Then, I turned off that road before he could even make the u-turn. I had lost him.

I guess I'm naïve to assume that someone who owns an E38 can't also be insane, but it's still a disappointing.

Shit. I guess the tailgating ruled out any possibility of a friendly meetup. :shifty
What the hell? Did you do anything that could've possibly dissed him?

I have been followed a couple of times, it's no fun. I would never do it to someone else.

And that's the thing -- you don't know who has a gun out there.

Even if you think you can hold your own in a fist fight, you've got to know better than to pick on someone you don't know anything about. I mean, you don't know what kind of crazy they're ready to whip out.

Amen!! I had never seen or heard of the Z4 Redneck video, had never watched you tube for that matter Eh? That was awesome! I'm seriously considering going and getting a "Legal piece" for my own personal protection after that one. It's like you can't have anything nice or go anywhere anymore with out assholes like that looking to act stupid and talk smack. They were sure singing a different tune towards the end of that lil episode. :redspot

Damn, that's crazy. You did the right thing by ditching him, since you had no idea WHAT was up with him. Did you guys ever make eye contact?

Seriously, good call to get the hell away from them. This is when you need to be the better driver! Bigger man or not, everybody IS crazy, some more than others, and everyone's reality IS different...

I've had this happen twice in the last six months.

The first was this "young adult" in a beat-up Alero who always used to run red lights in our heighborhood to beat traffic - let's just say he cut me off and I blew by him and his mod_POS_Old-ass-mobile, legally, via the dotted yellow, etc... He followed me for a half hour, all the time I'm thinking to myself - wow! he saved a LOT of time running that red light, at least enough to chase me for 1/2 hour!!! Once I found I was enjoying leaving him in the dust and playing hide-and-seek I stopped by the local firehouse for a pit beef fndraiser, he went on his way. I still see him from time to time and he does not cut me off anymore.

The next incident was just a few weeks ago. A dog was hurt in the road and I got out to try and help. When I held up my hand to a jack'd 4x4 speeding (I mean SPEEDING - like 60+ in a 30) the guy slammed on his brakes, smoking tires, face bright red, though he was going to explode. All the neighbors came out to see what wa happening... The funny part is this butthole forgot to put his truck in park before he got out to pitch a fit, his truck starting rolling off the side of the road into a corn field. A little tense, but I got the hell out of there, and the dog was out of harm's way! Looking back it was one of the scariest and funniest experiences I have ever had.

That's just really distasteful. I consider myself courteous on the road, but I always am a bit nicer to another BMW driver on the road, just because I suppose. Passed this new 5 series on the road a couple of months ago and he just about went crazy waving at me and flashing his lights just because I was driving a Bimmer. I don't get that crazy, but I waved back.

Since we live in the same area, can you provide a description of the vehicle?

Good idea. If I lived there, I'd want to know a description of the psycho's car, also.

The best way to describe it is angry ... be on the look-out for an angry car.

I was driving and had another black e38 pull up next to me. He rolled down his window, I rolled down mine. He said I had nice taste in cars, I aknowledged his great taste and then I pulled into bestbuy. Made me laugh.
