This is normally where I take my car too. Good people, but not the best price. I trust them and had given them a lot of business.

I've given Pat alot of business as well and I trust him completely with my car. He's not super-cheap; but, he's honest about things. He will not replace items that do not need replacing. He's located in Gaithersburg, Md. His phone number is (301) 519-0908. Just ask tell him James with the hawai'i M3's recommended him.

I would definitely recommend him. Curry's is also very good as well; I just happened to meet him prior to experiencing Curry's.

P.S. - he has about 20+ years of experience and specializes in VW's/Audi's/and BMW's. He primarily does that and of course the Honda's/acura's/toyota's/lexus's as well.

Another satisfied Curry's customer here. Both the M Roadster and the WRX go there for check ups.

Curry's does good work but is a little overpriced. $160 for an alignment of my M3? It only took them 30 minutes.

don't i know it, i just went into the ashburn shop two-three weeks ago

and it was like 20 minutes in and out for $119.00

you know the price thing at curry's isn't fixed, you ask each one of'em and they charge you different prices.

i drove out and my alignment still isn't right !

Are they reliable and trusted ?

thanks

excluservice is very very good as far as a shop goes

BUT, they aren't really good at timing, i mean like gettin you in and out, everything is drop off

and aftermarket parts, i think most mechanics stay away from it cause 1) they don't make any money if you bring the parts and 2) warranty issues

but they will do it, charge you an arm and a leg, but they will do it

i never have that kind of time so i find places that will accomodate me, drive in, wait two hours and i'm out.

What other shop would you recommend? or better yet which shop do you go to for service, cause all i need is to get inspectionII on my car.

thanks

i actually drive the 1/2 hour to baltimore, use this guy at urban auto service in ellicott city

i'm in and out by noon usually, and they charge about 1/2 to 3/4 of currys or excluservice would charge. and i bring my own parts.

for an inspection II i would recommend doing as much of it on your own first then whatever you can't handle, have them do those specifics

there is another shop in Mt. Airy which is far but its a ways. someone on bimmer.org E36 M3 board told me about that one

Autowerke and Autoy is also a decent shop, they are right here in rockville, but one time the guy was supposed to pick me up at the metro stop to get my car and i waited almost 45 minutes cause he said he was too busy, so i haven't been back

there used to be a guy off brookville road, he ran a shop with another dude, michael ko or something in that industrial park, new audis and bmws real well, his name was Sunny, he may still be around that area.

he was real good and cheap, could do custom jobs and everything

What do i need to change ?or inspect? or what ever it is to get inspectionII done ?

thanks again.

Try Sigy's bmw service shop in Rockville.
I'm not sure whether you know this place or not but they are good in any BMW. Also, sigy and his son are real german and sigy worked as bmw master mechanic at Passport, VOB, and Tischer BMW for more than 20 years. Also, I saw sometimes exclusive technician asks him to help them. Let me know if you like to know their location and number

JLee: I've contacted Tom Allen, told him I got his number from you. Seems that tom's quite busy these days, but he said he'd give me a quote on some work I'm looking to get done. Thanks for the tip!

taeandji: I'm shopping around for the best rates, so I'd appreciate it if you could provide me with Sigy's number and address. Thanks in advance!

Sigys Service Center
110 Crabb Avenue, Rockville, MD 20850
(301) 881-6725

Their price is kinda reasonable but they charge you alot when you bring the parts and they like nasty talk... but good men...

Along the way before you make right turn onto crabb ave, you will see another bmw specialist on left side. I think the name of place is bmw specialist or something like that but I haven't had chance to find how good they are.

i hope this help you.

Sigy's Service Center

Fugghedabboudit. Condescending attitude, treats folks as if they kow ABSOLUTELY nothing about the cars. Fuckin' loser Nazi!

Urban's

Still undecided, I contacted Tom about a weekago...said he'd call back that same day. I haven't heard from him since. Maybe they're just really busy.

The place to go! Dan's really cool, fair prices and all...won't rip you off. He worked at VOB in Rockville for several years before he opened his own shop...knows these cars really well.

If you decide to go, tell him Glenn sent you!

Anybody heard of Autodynamics or Autocentro in Rockville? Also anymore feedback on Autoy or Auto Werke?

Autocentro is great. I used to own a VW Corrado & Audi Coupe and they were recommended to me for VW & Audi work. I live in Springfield and would drive my car up to Rockville for maintenance or major work. Their hourly rate is fairly cheap and they do great work. The owner and his son are very friendly and love to chat, but are usually too busy to hang out and talk.

Auto Centro rocks! Paulo is an absolute genious on VWs...won our class this year, and he had my racecar running faster than I ever had it. Top notch place, although I never even thought about bringing the BMW there.

David Toy, who owns Autoy, also races in the same calss as Paulo and I (ITB), and his '02 is also quite fast. I'm sure they do quality work in the shop as well, going by the level of prep on his car. Rates might be a bit pricey, though.

You're in Germantown, Martin, so Mt. Airy isn't that far from you.Try York Automotive up there. Ed York builds killer BMWs...has dominated his class the last couple fo years in ITS. Street cars shouldn't pose any problems for him, good rates too.

i never have good luck with this stuff

as far as tom at urban auto, yeah hes not good at calling back. you need to pin him down, get him to give you a price for the install right on the phone and make an appointment. like i said, if you go there you won't be impressed by there facilities and hes a little slow but very careful...

dave toy is pretty good too, hes a little more expensive and busy as all hell. i may give him another shot. the only thing that turned me off was when i was there waiting (for like an hour just to pick up my car) three other people were waiting cause they brought their cars in to get fixed and something went wrong afterwards, i dunno what happened :dunno

but i need to find someone local, the drive is killin me

Thanks Glenn, I appreciate the info. I have an appointment with Autocentro next week to have them checkout a suspension problem on my wife's car. I'll see how it goes. Thanks again.

Try Einstein's Auto in College Park, MD. Owner, Gary, used to work at Tischer and is very knowledgeable. Haven't been there in a year, but I think their labor rate is $60/hour.

DON'T GO TO SIGY'S. The guy is an arrogant, condescending, rude jackass. Pay a little more and be treated like an actual human being at another shop. Or, pay exactly the same and get as good or better service at Einstein's in College Park.

we can definitely help you ///M guys out! We're servicing an SMG trans right now :)

Although we are in Dundalk, MD. If you don't mind the 50min hike from Silver Spring, then please come on through.

Right now we're offering free tech inspections for BMW owners to help introduce you all to the shop and what we have to offer....

Stop by!

Try Dennis at German Autowerkes behind the Rockville Metro. Open Saturdays and walkable from the metro. You can also get rides to and from the metro. Shop is not the cleanest but they do good work. 301-424-7463. Victor's autobody next door also does good work. Ask for Juan. 301-424-0510. You can tell them Edgar referred you.

I wouldn't take my biz to Siggy's. I echo other people's sentiments about this place. Autodynamics is good, but they're a little expensive. I don't have experiences with other shops.

Been dealing with Benchmark Motors in Columbia, MD, for almost 10 yrs. -- with e23 745i, e24 M6, e34 525i, e39 528i, and e39 530i. Great service, esp. on the M6 (incl. valve adjustments). Highly recommend them -- www.benchmarkmotors.com. Not open weekends.
