So i picked up a 91 750i for 500 bucks. The thing was known to have a bad power steering/suspension leveling system.
They advertised "rebuilt transmission"
WELL that rebuilt transmission.. isnt working.
It grabs.. it doesnt slip.. but it also doesnt shift. I assume the 750 has a 4 speed. Turns out the guy that rebuilt it did something wrong.. or messed up a computer?
Put it in 1 and its stuck in 2. Put it in D and it'll start in 2nd then shift to 1 when it should go to 3 and when it shifts out of 1 it goes to neutral.. revs for a bit then slams into 3. At that point it stops shifting (it will down shift if you slow) but to get to 4th you have to select 3.
The car is pretty beat.. and i was going to just part it out ... but curious if that tranny was an easy fix or anything.

Dude from here on i don't think that you have anything to lose. Try fixing it or get a manual gearbox from the 850CI\I.

how about a reman/take-off tranny? Curious if the car is in Oahu (green with tan interior)?? Asking because last year, I drove a friend's 750 that crapped out a few weeks ago due to a bad tranny.

The car is black.. but repainted.. looks like it was always black though.
It's pretty ragged out.. i just made a new friend.. A bmw mechanic and shop owner. His advice was to part the damn thing out.. Considering the condition of the interior and a slight misfire at idle (poss burned valve). ANyway.. i;ll be posting in the "for sale" section.
Just want to make a few bucks (over my 500 spent)
