Anywho leaving for a road trip up to there in like 30 minutes. daniel zhp 11-11-2006, 12:01 PM I hope you have your snows on because you'll be driving through quite a bit in Southern Minnesota. I graduated from the UofMN in 2000. Good luck! Reedo 11-13-2006, 02:25 AM . I graduated from the UofMN in 2000. Good luck! Really? I didn't know that. Cool. What'd you get? daniel zhp 11-13-2006, 07:35 PM Really? I didn't know that. Cool. What'd you get? Hey Andy: I started at age 32. I have a BA in architecture and MA in urban design...combination of architecture, landscape architecture and urban planning. I went seven years straight. It was a long haul but very well worth the headaches. Reedo 11-14-2006, 12:48 AM Hey Andy: I started at age 32. At least I know I'm not alone in that one. :D Eric, did you ever make it up? diablolique 11-14-2006, 12:50 AM Minnesota wrestling is awesome, my cousin went there. nort0188 11-14-2006, 01:40 AM I went there for three semesters and plan to never set foot in a UMN classroom ever again. Guess that's what I get for turning my back on Madison. Reedo 11-14-2006, 01:54 AM I went there for three semesters and plan to never set foot in a UMN classroom ever again. Guess that's what I get for turning my back on Madison. Why's that, if I may ask? ( I have a theory, but humor me...:D ) nort0188 11-16-2006, 08:33 PM Why's that, if I may ask? ( I have a theory, but humor me...:D ) Let's see... it's not entirely the academics, just my experience as a whole. Start with the dorms. I got stuck in Pioneer. Fourth floor. That meant only one tiny window, in the corner, set back from the wall. A roommate who showered on occassion, kept the room pitch black at all hours of the day, blah blah blah... at least he wasn't fucking with me in the room. Not a very happy place to be. I requested a room change multiple times, even emailing the head of the hall personally and got zero reply, not even an "I'm sorry, that's not possible." One night I was off campus, up in the Anoka area actually, and get a call from my CA. The fuck-ups in the room next to mine decided to light 151 on fire, and set their room ablaze. The water from the sprinklers of course got into my room, everything on the floor is ruined, and my whole fucking room smells like smoke for the rest of the year. And what happens with the fuck-ups? Oh, they get to move to a different room (One of them a single, which is what I had requested). I didn't know why the hell I was going to school there, so I signed up for a career exploration bullshit class. I signed up in the second week of the semester, and the prof pulls me aside after my first day there and tells me that she doesn't really want me in that class, because people who register for courses late are generally a pain in the ass. Hows that for Minnesota nice? I don't want you here because I assume you'll be a pain in the ass... Lastly, the city itself. Too big for me. Not enough parking (none of it free, btw). I parked in a lot and came back literally five minutes later to find a boot on my car, with a tow truck on the way. Clearly someone saw me park there, so why not tell my dumbass that I can't, and should move? And it takes WAY too long to get somewhere that actually has enjoyable roads to drive on. All that shitty shit combined to result in me not giving a shit anymore, straight Fs and Ws, and academic probation. Was that your theory? :redspot green328 11-17-2006, 02:58 AM first of all you got unlucky. iv never talked to anyone who went to u of m and didnt have an amazing time, or else they dropped out cause of money. and yeah you need to wtach where you park. a cop in any other state would give you a ticket for parking in a NO PARKING ZONE anyways so who cares. like i said, unlucky man Boosted 11-17-2006, 11:16 AM I like to freeride (bike) on the Campus with my other buddies, we usually get a good gang of people to go. There is so much shit to ride/jump on, plus at the right time of the season the hotty's are roaming the campus too! :D I went to college in Saint Cloud, so can't say much of the academic part of it. nort0188 11-17-2006, 10:37 PM first of all you got unlucky. iv never talked to anyone who went to u of m and didnt have an amazing time, or else they dropped out cause of money. and yeah you need to wtach where you park. a cop in any other state would give you a ticket for parking in a NO PARKING ZONE anyways so who cares. like i said, unlucky man I never said it wasn't unlucky. Just saying I had a pretty shitty time, and there's no way I'm going back. Plus, football is NOT supposed to be played indoors!:nono sonicpentatonic 11-20-2006, 04:36 AM i go to the U of MN and i absolutely love it. State school is definitely the place for me. Lots of gorgeous girls and great academics to boot! Reedo 11-20-2006, 03:52 PM My theory was actually more political in nature, but in regards to your comments about your room and parking, I couldn't agree more. I once was in a dorm room that, although of decent size, the window was amazingly small. Rooms like that wouldn't be allowed in most other cities due to safety regulations because of such small windows. As for the parking, that was one of the main reasons I knew I'd never go there. My brother had a parking permit in a decent lot that cost him just shy of $1k for a year. I went to Mn State-Mankato and spent $168/year to park and I could walk everywhere in 5 minutes. ///M3 11-21-2006, 05:30 PM Eric, I know a bunch of BMW guys and we get together on the weekends all the time. Let me know when your going to be in MN (they all live by the UofM/downtown). Later armstr0ng 11-28-2006, 04:08 PM I'm in the Twin Cities area too. Let me know if anyone is gonna meet up. I would like to get the ///M out one last time. My plan is to transfer to the UofM. Nice school for sure, my bro went there. Reedo- I'm thinking about joining the DTM club. I don't have any current performance mods but I plan on doing some by spring time. Am I good to go? |
