thanks, yeah this track's fame is well deserved (tho i don't know what it was like before all the earth moving and repaving). i love banked, on camber fast turns w/ elevation! i didn't find the corkscrew as tough as thunderhill turn 9, where there isn't a good visual turn in cue for me.

laguna eats brakes and my hawk blue fronts had some fade going into 2 and 11.

i don't play racing games so can't comment on gt

I was at Laguna with everbruin last Sunday. I had never driven the track before, but had borrowed a PS2 with GT4 a couple of days prior to see if it would make a difference.

For me, it did help. But not in the sense of turning fast laps, but really only in the sense of "there's a tight right, then an opening right, then a tight left, then an open left..." etc. Basically helps with the initial, very basic layout of the track, but definitely not in the subtleties of the changing camber (e.g. Turn 9) and elevation.

BTW, here's a video from my car. Less fast than everbruin, especially considering my HP and tire advantage, but fun nonetheless:

(That lap is a 1:54 ... I was turning 1:42's in GT4's "stock" E46 M3 :D)

have either of you driven on the surface before the repave it doesnt sound like you have but the new repave kinda ruined a lot of things about the track i think. lots of lil bumps now and certain dips etc. are gone that could be used as markers.

The track is planning on re-repaving due to the bumps that were "added". They were definitely noticable during the CR in Sept.

Nice videos! I really need to get a camera mounted in my car.

I had a blast Saturday, despite the oil leak. Laguna Seca was just as fun as I thought it would be, easily my new favorite track out here.

Thanks Zack, I'm definitely going to try. That'll make 3 (or 4 ) track days this weekend alone. :D

Pretty similar. Major difference is Turn 1 is a lot steeper than it looks/feels in the game. Some of the distances between some turns seem longer in the game. Like T4-T5 and T9-T10. Or maybe I'm confusing GT3 w/ GT4. They improved it a lot for GT4.
Are they repaving it again? I know the last repaving prior to MotoGP accentuated the bumps coming out of the corkscrew, and the GP bikes tore up the pavement going down 9. I hate what they did with the drive up to the Corkscrew.
Been there 4 times on the bike and 3 times in the car. Haven't been there since the recent changes though.

BTW, nice vid. Smooth nice lines.
