Anyone with experience with these tires? I know they are DC now, but for those that have used it in the past, how do they stack up against Toyo RA-1? Grip-wise, wear-wise, size, temperature, etc.?

I have an opportunity to pick up a set of used ones for about $150 with still about 40% TREAD left... so I figure'd they are still good down to the cords.

All I can tell you is that they lasted a lot longer than I thought they would.

I had one set that I bought because they were so cheap through tire rack. I would say they rate between a really good street tire and the RA-1. I had to flip mine on the rims half-way through to make them last longer and this was with -3.25 F and -1.9 R camber. I may have been running them with too little air pressure, because I had been running PSC's before and they run around 36 PSI hot. I would probably run the SSR's at 40 hot.

If you're only paying $150 for all 4, then it's probably worth it.

Ditto. M3mobbin has them on his car and he's amazed at how long thye've been lasting. he liked them so much he picked up another set. he uses them agressively on the street.

Well..I think they suck..Ive had RA1's, V700, V710's, the last few years..and the Dunflopps..

They are okay track tires. Stick wise they are well below the Toyo, more a Hot rod street tire. A few things to watch for with the Dunlops. They tend to snap when they reach the limit, with not much warrning or feed back, BANG no grip! And they take at least 3-5 laps to get warmed up. caution is required before they get warm.

I bought them because they were cheap. They do last a BUTT long time. As soon as they wear out I'll be back on either Toyo's or some Hankooks.

I've run through several sets of them and have also used Toyo RA1 quite a bit and I really would not bother with the Dunlops even if they are cheap. They last a while, sure, but even my wife was complaining about their grip level (I guess I should mention she instructs at the track with me sometimes).

They tended to get greasy after about 20 minutes at almost any pressure you tried. They chunk if they didn't start life out shaved, and you'll soon find yourself with a tire that looks like it has a lot of tread left but, upon closer inspection, is no longer usable.

Pay $300-400 for a nice used set of RA1 and be happier. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

+1

I was the first owner of M3mobbins tires and I like them enough that I bought 2 sets for my new car. They last long and outperform any street tire I've had. For all out track performance there are probably better tires, but the SSRs are still a great tire for the money.

Hmm, sounds like these are more a street tire than anything. I'm now getting them for $80, so why not... lol

Thanks for the feedback!

Hated them on the track. Probably a good street tire. Liked the Toyos and Khumos much better.

I have 3 left (3, you ask? Yes, because I'm a dummy) here - anyone want them? They've been used a lot on the track but would make an OK dry/warm street tire. $20ea, you pick 'em up :)

Ugh, these tires suck!

I took them out to Buttonwillow this past weekend. They feel like they will grip initially, but once you load them up, they just get slippery. I tried anything from 42 to 32 psi, and it changed very little. I had on tire size 225/45 all around on a 17x8 wheel.

The Azenis RT615's are grippier... although I have it in size 255/40.

I think they are a great tire for the price tire rack was selling them. I ran through 4 sets of 265s. They last about 4-5 DE days. I'm running hoosiers now and I'm not too much faster, maybe a second at TWS, but I'm still getting used to their character.

Good tire to learn on since it talks like a street tire.

Yikes! I have a set of these Dunlop SS R tires in 225/45/17, and a set of the 255/40/17 Azenis RT615s. I was hoping to use the Dunlops for track days in the hopes I'd get more grip, but now I dont know if thats a good idea. :dunno

Interesting you say that because others have said there is no warning when they let go. Who is right?

I thought they felt like a street tire on the track. They gave plenty of warning.
