Modifications - Bone stock, except
- OEM remote/alarm system installed at time of purchase.
- Tapped into moonroof power wiring for Escort Passport 8500 power (I believe this works for Valentines as well).
- Glovebox rattle fix; aluminum bar mounted to support glovebox. Visible only through latch hole. Invisible when glovebox is closed.
- Ground Control rear shock mounts installed at Inspection 1.
Service history
- Always maintained either by BMW dealer, or
- Rennwerks of Mountain View (now Campbell)
- Oil changes between recommended service intervals.
- Last service: Inspection 1 in March 2006.
- No subframe issues.
Driving history - driven enthusiastically, never raced
- Taken to one-day driving class once; otherwise it has never seen an autocross or the track.
- Used as a daily driver for about two years.
- No accidents.
Condition of car - very good
- Garaged at night. Washed exclusively by myself. Never seen a public carwash.
- Non-smoker.
- A few mild paint chips on the hood.
- Passenger side fender was replaced in 2001. I got dinged while I was parked. Indistinguishable from factory bodywork after almost 5 years.
- Chin rash under front spoiler, which is not visible unless you put your ears on the ground.
- Wheels have no curb rash.
- Passenger side rear wheel was scratched by tire mounter and repaired. (I was naive when I agreed to just let them repaint the whole thing; it doesn't match perfectly). Driver's side rear wheel lip has been repainted to cover curb rash.
Tires - Falken Azenis Sport RT215
- Front tires have about half the tread wear left.
- Needs new rear tires. Matching tires (245/45) are still available from vulcantire.com com for a princely $114 each.
Miscellaneous extras
- OEM BMW moonroof shade (slides in just under the glass moonroof; secured by velcro).
- OEM BMW cupholder included but not installed (no tools needed). Sits next to e-brake, has two hinged compartments with two cupholders in back compartment.
