View Full Version : Z24 Cavalier vs. E46 325i
joeympower 11-06-2006, 12:27 AM This 30 somethin year old guy is sitting at one of the stop lights on a road called highway 31. The speed limit is 55 mph so i was in the mood anyway. I just happened to have my window down and i looked over. The guy asks me if i had ever raced a cavi before and I said no. The way he asked was just like he was in a movie but the problem with that was he was in a cavi. He said lets not go from 0 lets go from 20mph. So we take off slow at get uo to 20 and no one honked he just got on it. I waited for a couple seconds and then i gave to her and i just glided past him as if he were maintaining a constant velocity and kept going until about 100. I was so far ahead at this point i couldnt even tell if he as still going. I dont think this is really cool or anything but i just thought it was funny. I thought it may be a little closer though.
Smilez@EuroDyne 11-06-2006, 09:29 PM Lol Thats Pretty Funny Too...i Guess They Dont Expect It To Be That Fast...ima Have To Race On Too...but What Year Is Yours
joeympower 11-06-2006, 10:34 PM 2004 325i
hotimportknight 11-06-2006, 10:49 PM Oh god yea, by 323 would decimate a cavalier... all ive got is an AEM short ram and I havent come across any non sports car that ive had a problem with before... a brand new tiburon V6 or what ever, some damn cocky kid got blown away... actually while i was delivering pizza in my 2000 323ci, lol. Im not saying my car is that fast or any thing, but for any other non sports car its most likely a little quicker, especially with the 5 speed.
joeympower 11-06-2006, 10:59 PM That would be halarious to deliver pizzas in a bimmer. The only problem would be that it would ruin the leather smell after a little while. Ive always wondered what people would say when i pulled up expecting some pimply kid in a Toyota Tercel or something but i cant leave my job at the garage.

BMW750il&AudiA6 11-07-2006, 05:05 PM what was the guy in the cavi thinking??
M3///Dude 11-07-2006, 05:13 PM What year was the cavi ? ( the newer ones after 1996 i believe had the 2.4 four banger with only 150 hp, and the earlier Z24 cavi's had the 3.1 V6 with bigger balls.
joeympower 11-07-2006, 09:04 PM It was the 2.4, 4 bang.

That "bigger ball" V6 only had 130hp. I had one of those pieces of crap.
joeympower 11-07-2006, 10:57 PM Well im glad you have moved on to BMW. The pure race.(of cars)
someguy2800 11-07-2006, 11:10 PM That "bigger ball" V6 only had 130hp. I had one of those pieces of crap.
Yeah right! Even the first gen 2.8 carburated v6 had 128! The 3.1 was more like 170 hp. They were decent with a 5 speed. Alot of torque.
joeympower 11-07-2006, 11:18 PM It doesnt really matter because its a cavi. One of the most disgustig sights ever created except for the new eclipse of corse.
hennam10 11-07-2006, 11:23 PM Remind me not to race a Cavalier in my 286k '84 318i. I couldn't bear the embarassment!
hockey21 11-07-2006, 11:26 PM watch out for the colbalt ss...
BMW///M3sdn 11-08-2006, 12:08 AM watch out for the colbalt ss...
ive raced one of them before i got the turbo, he told my friend it wasnt worth his time racing a car thats built in the 80's (?????) but he did anyway, from 20 to 60 i put a car or two on him, he didnt say anything after that. Oh well thats how life goes i guess.
pinzy 02-07-2007, 10:14 PM i had a 91 3.1 cavalier...
all low end, not much in the top end (typical gm v6)
as far as the new cobalt ss goes- they have a 2.0 s/c model that moves pretty well and a 2.4 n/a that is well, far cheaper to insure.....
RBeater 02-07-2007, 11:17 PM I remember trying one of those older cavalier last summer when I worked in a garage. The damn piece of shit would squat everytime I hit the breaks then it would slowly rise back up. How could you responsably drive that? The worst part is the guy had a ''custom'' white and blue interior. Just wrong.
Locked.
CreamySmooth 02-09-2007, 12:52 AM i delivered pizza in my 2002 325i all through highschool.
kimsey 02-09-2007, 01:08 AM and i looked over. The guy asks me if i had ever raced a cavi before .
When I was in h/s I had the same thing happen to me. Only it involved a Geo Storm GSI. I nearly died laughing at this kid, he was serious as could be. He started bouncing it off the rev limiter and all you could hear were the valves tapping. The light turned green and he dumped the clutch and spun one wheel for about 7 feet. His exhaust made more smoke than his burn out. At the next light he was attempting to brag about beating me. All I could do was laugh at the guy.
Ksnapp 02-09-2007, 01:13 PM Haha, if this is true thats funny ish.
