Went to the University of Illinois this weekend, had a blast...don't remember very much. Like an idiot, I left my Escort detector mounted on the windshield when I left the car at a parking garage Friday night. I had a bad feeling about it as we walked from the car but, like an idiot, didn't do anything about it. Got dropped off at the parking garage today to drive back to IU and this is what I see. The drive back was a blast. There were also a bunch of "roll up the window, it's cold!" jokes. :rofl

Not only did the assholes break the window, they used a crowbar or something to pry it open for whatever reason, and still broke the window. So now the weatherstripping is ruined, that trim piece is ruined, the window is gone, there is a small scratch on the inside doorpanel from something, and there are small paint chips down to the metal, as if there were a golf shoe driven into the paint.

And not only did the do all of this damage, but they didn't even take my friend's iPod sitting in the glovebox! Nor the quarters on the console! I'm offended! :lol

Does anybody know where I can get these parts? Window, weatherstripping, and that trim piece.

that's horrible, looks like they tried to break in through the door, but broke the window instead. Beats me why they didn't even bother to steal anything, maybe they thought the sound of the window breaking would alert someone.

Definately sounds like amatures.

Yeah, I was thinking it had to be amateurs. I wish I had an alarm though.

Good thing is that it was a shitty detector. I could care less that it's gone, but hope they trust it too much and get a ticket. :)

Karma's a bitch.:)

Hell no. Plugs into the cigarette lighter. It wasn't a good detector anyways.

Just make sure they can't see it!

Yea, I've been there. January of this year I had my stereo, amp and subs jacked along with a radar detector. March they came back and got my wheels.

A few lbs.

I'm glad I don't have an aftermarket stereo, as my car would have lost another few lbs.

Sorry man. I had mine broken in front of my face a month after I got my 530i. The bastard who did that was pissed at my friend that was in the car. I kicked his ass and got my revenge.

Check out www.strictly-german.com and give them a call. They are based in GA but I'm sure you can get the parts shipped to you.

Trey, sorry about your car. I'd be finding that bastards that did that and breaking each finger one at a time. Did you fix everything back to the way it was??

I forgot about Strictly German. I'll see what Kessler and FlyeRyan can do, then give them a call.

It looks like NikosX and I will be doing the work. :)

Sorry to hear about your car. Hope everything turns out okay and they get what's coming to them.

but actually, they knew what they were doing. They used a screw driver or some sort and put pressure at the bottom of the window to break it. It creates nearly no noise when the window breaks.. just a popping sound. Any noise will be from the glass falling and hitting the ground only... This is usually done garage type situations when breaking glass will echo..

talk about petty theives. A used radar detector, older model I gather from the way you bashed it, is worth what- 100 bucks tops, if that?

Thats really worth the risk. To a crack addict.

Exactly. He's gonna be dissapointed to find out he'll get $80 TOPS.

It's the principle of it. Repaired professionally, it's $500 in damage. Hopefully I can get a not-as-nice window and a trim piece from Antrieb for $50 + shipping, then new weatherstripping and door clips for however much.

I've got to get Alpine touchup paint, then wetsand the damaged area.

And the door panel will always have a scratch in it, not to mention all of the broken glass. I've got to figure out how to take out the seats and do a super vacuum job.

LOL

Try $30 -$40 at the local no questions pawn shop.

If you happen to have had the serial number, I hope you filed a police report.
