Hey guys, I've actually got an E30 318, but I figured since you got more M10 cars, this would be the place to ask.
I've owned 4 E30s and an E34, but this is my first M10 car, so I'm very new to it. Does anyone have a good website with a bunch of DIYs, wiring diagrams, engine specs (reco piston to wall clearence, stock cam specs, piston and rod specs, bla bla bla), or any other info on the M10 I can get? Is there any good info avaiable on people's experiences with turbocharging these things, or has anyone effectively documented an S14 head install? How about info on parts, and what likes to go bad? Anything else is great too.
Thanks!

Korman racing, Top end performance, bmw320i.com, Wikipedia has a lot for specs, bmwe21.net and There is more info on this forum than you can read in four 6 hour sittings search what you want to know and you will probably find it
holdfastgreg 11-04-2006, 07:26 PM I'm surprise you put down wikipedia; that website is phenominal.
As far as DIY projects, best option is to push for boost as the m10 loves it. Stock rods hold to about 500rwhp, just drop in some nice pistons and enjoy.
jjgbmw323 11-05-2006, 11:58 AM If you go NA - than Metric Mechanic's site is all about how to hot rod a BMW engine or tranny. I say read it, than build your own.
If you boost your m10 than I have heard Corky Bell's Maximum Boost is the book to get.
PS- you can not install either a s14 head or m42 head on your m10 block, you need both the head and block..and electronics..thats why those swaps are involved...
^I've heard otherwise, I'll have to get back to you on specifics. A very very reputable source has said that the S14 head works.

you can use the crank, other than that I have heard that they are total;y different.
blitzed310 11-06-2006, 12:08 PM The S14 head issue has been beat to death here. It will fit with modifying the oil and or water journals to match the block. Its likely more economic to just buy a complete S14 rather than use the M10 block (which is nearly the same). The reason people do this is for class rule restrictions that state they have to use the block that came with that vehicle. The swap the heads because of the loop hole.
^That's more what I've been hearing.
Anyway, I will admit, I didn't search as much as I could have, but some of the things I need may not be on this forum, and it'd be great to find out about them.
Rod dimentions would be nice so I can start playing with rod/stroke ratios, combustion chamber volume would be cool, wrist pin height, bla bla bla...
The problem is I've only got one of these right now, so I can't measure anything. I don't even have the stock gear ratios on the trans, but I'm sure I could find those.
Also any kind of DIY pages to study would be great.
