OK so here it is. Last night I was down in Providence, Rhode Island in my Titanium Silver 2004 M3.

I had just picked up some babe at a bar downtown and we were headed back to my place for a little :boobies :bj :cuddle :la

When all of a sudden, as I'm heading down the highway, I see these really dull halogen lights coming up wicked fast. So I look over at the babe and I'm like :suave "I got this."

I then realize that it's a 2003/2004 Cobra, because it had the screaming baby under the hood mod. So I switch in the middle lane and look over. He give's me a look as if to say "let's do this"

The babe keeps telling me how it's a bad idea, and she doesn't want me to race him. So I say ... http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l308/mitch1660/orly.gif he honk's 3 times, I downshift into 3rd and we're off.

He got about a car length jump on me right off the bat. By the end of 3rd gear I was keeping up with him, but not gaining on him what-so-ever. We took it up to about 140 MPH with him winning by about 1 1/2 car lengths or more, man those things sound fricken AWESOME.

That babe I picked up, ending up being "really tired" :drink3 :beer :drink1 and she passed out as soon as we got back. Oh well, at least I raced a Cobra.

Whats the mods on your e46 m3? I'm surprised you kept up that well with a Cobra @ 400lbs of torque & overrated, they say they have 390hp @ crank but they are overrated & actually rated at 390+rwhp but other than that nice run.

Good thing you didn't race him from a dead stop you definitely would've been asking for a hurting..03/04 SVT Cobra mustangs make so much more power band from dead stop & through 2nd gear.

the thing about 03/04 SVT Cobras running stock Eaton superchargers, with just basic bolt ons, cammed, will easily get them into low 12 & high 11 sec range hehe.

I registered on this site because I like BMW. I wasn't bashing M3s just joking around cause he compared the supercharger whine to a crying baby so I compared an M3 to a rasping dirtbike. I'm sure he understands I'm joking so don't worry about it. You don't drive a BMW, so why did you join this site?

I think you mean they are underrated. If you underrate the power, you're saying it has less power than it actually does.

Actually....Cobras are not that good from a stop. If they are on street tires, they don't hook up and have major traction issues from a Dig and low-gear rolls, especially if they have upgraded S/C. That is how I ran a 04' Cobra with Whpple Supercharger (580-600 rwhp) and was ahead from 0-100 Dig and 15-115 lo gear roll. I have a clip on google video of me running the Cobra from a highway roll (his advantage), but cant link it from here......

My dad has a yellow 03 Cobra vert, everytime I drive it I'm like :eek:

I want an M3 more than anything in life and thats what i will get after college but the sound of the exhaust is rather raspy. But does it still sound cool? Its kind of a dilema for me.

Yup, you're right. The E46 M exhaust is a love it or hate it type thing. However, it does grow on you the more you drive the car and becomes addictive after a while.:redspot Sort of like the addiction of hearing a turbo spool up or a supercharger on a V8 at full battle cry...

I simply like the fact that when you hear an E46 M on the war path, there's no mistaking it for any other car ever made... You immediately know it's an E46..... My wife says it reminds her of our weed-eater.

A <300 rwhp and low torque car should beat an almost 400 rwhp high torque car (of similar weight) from a roll? :dunno

Have you driven an M3? Go drive one and I bet that you will no longer mind the "raspy" exhaust note. All you can hear is the titlating high compresion 6er rising through RPMs. :evil2 Then again, I'm in a vert.

seriously, do you have any idea what an 03/04 cobra is? in straight line performance, a bolt-on e46 M3 has no chance.

The 03/04 cobras trap 109-112 stock. I ve seen some traps for the E46 around 106-110..
If the M3 got the hit or the jump I could see it having a chance hanging or beating one in a roll. From a dig...Id still have to go with the instant torque cobra.

Most 03/04 Cobras make 360-370hp at the wheels stock. They are a DOHC car, most people DON'T cam them. Basic performance upgrades consist of intake, headers, exhaust, supercharger pulley, idler pulley, tuning, if they want to get wilder....ported Eaton blowers a couple companies out there do it. Stegeimier (SP) is the most well known off the top of my head. I'm surprised he kept up so well and would also like to know what mods he has.
