Hi,

Can you recommend a knowledgeable and not too expensive mechanical repair shop that does BMW's?
I live in Berkeley.

Thanks!

Hi,

I have had my BMW serviced at Phaedrus in SF and now Edge Motorworks in Dublin. Phaedrus offers a 10% BMW CCA discount on all parts while Edge offers 10% off of labor. Parts are also cheaper at Edge. I highly recommend either one, but if I had to choose one, it would be Edge hands down.

HTH,
Ken

Any other shops near Edge Motorworks that would be suitable for a PPI? It seems that Edge Motorworks is the place to go, but I guess the car is owned by someone who works there, so I'd like to find somewhere else to check it out.

Thanks,
-thomas

I go to Kirk's Motorsport in Walnut Creek. He really knows his stuff. Only works on BMW & Benz. Small shop, great personalized service.

I don't think it's the same as M service. It's just called Kirk's Motorsport on 3rd Ave in Walnut Creek, right off North Main. He has worked on every Benz and BMW I have had and I am real happy with him.

Even if that's the situation, they will still take care of you just like they do everyone else. Edge 100%. I drive 40-50 minutes one way.

How much does the average inspection run @ EDGE? If it's not too much I'll drive over as soon as I can to get the beloved 528 checked up. All we've had to do in this car so far were replace the battery, and regular maintenance - seems a bit too good to be true.

Seems too good to be true on any BMW after a certain age...

Check out their site, I think the price of their underbody inspection is listed there.

I live in Berkeley.

All the suggestions are good, but since you live in Berkeley, why not try Bavarian Professionals? They're on 7th, off Gilman behind Pyramid Brewery.

I was just in there about a week ago getting the new Michelins mounted on the M3.

Cheers,
Jim
