View Full Version : Mechanical shops in the San Francisco Bay Area
virage 11-04-2006, 02:33 AM Hi,
Can you recommend a knowledgeable and not too expensive mechanical repair shop that does BMW's?
I live in Berkeley.
Thanks!
Hi,
I have had my BMW serviced at Phaedrus in SF and now Edge Motorworks in Dublin. Phaedrus offers a 10% BMW CCA discount on all parts while Edge offers 10% off of labor. Parts are also cheaper at Edge. I highly recommend either one, but if I had to choose one, it would be Edge hands down.
HTH,
Ken

Any other shops near Edge Motorworks that would be suitable for a PPI? It seems that Edge Motorworks is the place to go, but I guess the car is owned by someone who works there, so I'd like to find somewhere else to check it out.
Thanks,
-thomas

laserdude 11-21-2006, 11:53 PM I go to Kirk's Motorsport in Walnut Creek. He really knows his stuff. Only works on BMW & Benz. Small shop, great personalized service.

I don't think it's the same as M service. It's just called Kirk's Motorsport on 3rd Ave in Walnut Creek, right off North Main. He has worked on every Benz and BMW I have had and I am real happy with him.

Even if that's the situation, they will still take care of you just like they do everyone else. Edge 100%. I drive 40-50 minutes one way.

same here.
JuanPac0 11-23-2006, 10:30 PM How much does the average inspection run @ EDGE? If it's not too much I'll drive over as soon as I can to get the beloved 528 checked up. All we've had to do in this car so far were replace the battery, and regular maintenance - seems a bit too good to be true.

Seems too good to be true on any BMW after a certain age...
Check out their site, I think the price of their underbody inspection is listed there.
Mistermotorist 11-24-2006, 11:41 AM You can email Erik or Gordon -
They will respond promptly with an estimate (unless they are out racing somewhere)

All the suggestions are good, but since you live in Berkeley, why not try Bavarian Professionals? They're on 7th, off Gilman behind Pyramid Brewery.
I was just in there about a week ago getting the new Michelins mounted on the M3.
Cheers,
Jim

Oil change?? Shit, I'd do it. Takes like 15 minutes.
Thanks for the info, guys. Took my car to Edge like many here suggested. They did a great job.
