So I started working as a lifeguard a couple summers ago, I made good money and had a lot of fun! Then I went to college for a year while still working part time, and last summer decided I would take a semester or even a year off. I want to travel to Europe and Brazil for a couple months next summer if I can save enough money.
If I get the job I want when I'm out of college(I'm studying global affairs and wanting to work for the state department, but I'm waiting for security clearences so internship or courier isn't possible right now), I will not have many chances to travel for pleasure or visit friends for a long time.
So here I am, still lifeguarding full time (not even 40 hours a week now that the outdoor pools have closed), trying to pay for my room and car while still saving money, and it's not easy! I'm making 10 an hour, but like I said the hours are terrible. I could work for another pool company part time and do 50-70 hours a week, but honestly the job isn't exciting anymore.
Anyone have any ideas and/or offers they know about? I would like to do something with cars, I had a part time detailing business, but now that it's colder there are no customers left. I already considered valet, courier, pizza driver, ect, but there isn't much challenge in that, and I would most likely be taking a pay cut with those jobs. I also wouldn't like to be a salesman for new or used cars, just not my thing...
Any ideas? I would really like to hear what you guys have to say about this, and I'm open to any other jobs as well... Thanks!
