I've seen quite a few posts (including a few tips and bimmertips.com) for headlight adjustments. I'm a bit confused though. Most mention Xenon headlight systems and I don't think mine has them.

I have 1998 528I and my headlights are the H7 bulbs and I never remember them "adjusting" hitting the brakes / hitting bumps etc like is mentioned in several posts. I still have the bubble level on my setup but I DO seem to have the same symptom now that is mentioned in several posts:

My lights seem to be at their "bottom-most" position. The bubble is at the very back of the level and the beams are really only extending out about 10 feet or so (best guess) with the majority of the light hitting the ground at that point. The adjustment knobs do not make any change in the vertical (or horizontal) position of the beams and I DO notice the "bouncing" of the beams when hitting bumps (also mentioned in the posts).

Can someone clarify for me??. Does the repair kit mentioned in the posts (to repair the adjustment gears) work for my car ? It seems that the only mention of adjustment is with the Xenon system and I did'nt think I had that system on the car. My current headlights DO NOT have a "projector" type of look and I do not have the Angel Eyes etc. Unless I'm, missing something, I don't see any additional electrical connector for a adjustment servo motor etc. As I mentioned, the bulbs are the H7's.

Can someone "straighten me out' ?? I really need to get these headlights back in adjustment.

Thanks,
