Buy a Z8 shifter. It's only like $45.

i was about to suggest the B&M

also unless your current shifter is sloppy or the bearings are worn out and such dont change it. In my M3 i still have the standard shift lever because its not notchy it engages smoothly and i have never had a problem feeling my way around the gearbox even in race conditions. You really have no performance gains from a short shifter its simply preferanceand if your short on cash thats an even better reason to hold on to the stock shifter. They work great, i have one in my 325is as well( my beater) and it feels fine, smooth and such. You can increase the likelyhood of a money shift or other problems with a short shift. The B&M i have in my blue car is very short, its also a little notchy and someone who isnt very in touch and able to feel the gates through the lever may find it vauge and difficult to shift smoothely.

I have decided to keep the on in my M3 Racecar stock because when shifting theres never any question in my mind and nothing worse than not being able to get the car in gear because of a number of reasons which are all alot easier to come across with a short shift. Atleast in my experience.

Dont fix what isnt broken.

save your money from something more important. Trust me its an E30 there is always something.

Yes from the dealer.
I'm not sure about the different throws.
I have nothing to compare it to.
Also get a new plastic carrier bushing.

Crazy Rays had some good body panels and bumpers. No Headlights but if you want some sealed beams you can have mine for gas or shipping.

I keep a set around as spares since all of mine have been converted to EU spec.
