View Full Version : In Need..
sil0kin 11-02-2006, 09:32 PM Ok i finally got the new motor running..timed it up took it for a pin ran GREAT!...i get out of the car 2 just check on everything and as soon as i get back in (kkeep in mn di ran the battery to the trunk, i have the + wire from the FUSEBOX leading through my car and it got caught between my seat post and arched. and then the cvar shut off...now...i checked the fuse bix and saw that the wire from where the post is inside the fusebox was cooked..so i replac3ed the wire and hooked it back up..still no start..could thatve caused the ignition module to burn also?> what else could possably be the problem?
Madhatter 11-03-2006, 09:44 AM Dude, seriously, do you ever bother to proof read or simply go back over your posts once you have hit submit? pretty much everything you post comes back like some little guy inside your pc has beaten your text around for a few mins, fed it go his dog, who then regurgitated it before displaying it on the screen.
Everything connected to the starter and starting circuit could have shorted out as a result of the wire shorting out (didnt i tell people to be super carefull in the post i made about relocating? and some people pretty much shrugged it off?).
That means you need to check fuses, wiring and relays. You could even have damaged the solenoid on the starter itself. We need more information, what exactly happens when you turn the key? do your dash lights come on indicating the ignition circuit still has power? or is it all dead?
jrcook320 11-03-2006, 10:46 AM Define "no start". No crank, no start? crank and crank and crank, no fire?
Why is the + wire running through the car to the battery? Even if it is 10 gage that's too long a run for that size wire. Almost everything in the car is powered from that line, connect to the positive terminal on the starter and eliminate this problem in the future.
Hatter, I don't recall anyone shrugging off your advice about being careful...

+1 Zero gauge wire FTMFW. I ran mine under the car still no problems.
jrcook320 11-03-2006, 12:21 PM I don't think he was talking about the positive battery lead which should be 2 or 0 gage, we was talking about the small 10 gage hot lead into the fuse box. 10 gage is fine for 2 feet, but not for 10 feet.

Why on god's green earth would you run two positive leads from the battery? One to the fuse box and one to the starter post? That's just weird. I ran the zero gauge all the way to the starter post and then jumped all my other postives off of that, used it as a terminal block of sorts. Why isn't it buttoned down to the floorboards atleast? Sorry your car won't start, but you're lucky you didn't cause a fire.
Madhatter 11-03-2006, 05:43 PM because he did an arse about job when doing the relocation. All you had to do was connect that wire to the starter terminal instead of running it all the way back to the battery.
It doesnt really run from the fuse box, its actually to the fuse box, but we know which one he means. Im going to go with there being something damaged still, possibly a relay, or a section of wire you havent seen yet.
Still need more info though :)
