Yeah, you heard me right. I am getting a stock turbo and intercooler from a WRX and I am gonna fabricate it to work on my Jeep.
Now before you go off and ask why, I tell you.
First, the Jeep is a 4 banger and lacks mid and upper range power for the highway. It has pleanty down low for around town and off road. Getting onto the highway is always a stressfull situation. Heaven forbid I need to pass someone or even get out of the way of an accident! Yes, it is really that bad.
Secondly, when I am lucky enough to get this thing on the higway, it is all it can do to stay at 60. Now, if I wanna cruise at 70-75, I have to KEEP it flored. If I hit a head-wind, then it is down to 4th gear I go and still lose speed!
So, I am looking for only a small power gain, mainly after 2000 RPM. Nothing crazy, just 3 to 6 pounds of boost. It needs just enought to help push that brick through the wind at speed. I am not too worried abut low end boost since it is not needed there, altough, the WRX will give a little down low. It will still need to be predictable with the power off road, especially while doing a rock climb.
I figure that I will end up haveing to enrich the fuel, but we will see. I had a megasquirt in mind for that if needed.
So, who is down to help?
