This is for all you wineo's out there. Texas has declared whole state wet when dealing with sales of wine. Good thing I already bought my wife a 32 bottle wine cooler :)

1. wineo

an alcoholic who has resorted to getting drunk off wine stored away in his home. usually said wineo has no life and will walk around aimlessly stumbling drunk.

If you havn't tried already I'd recommend Llano's GEWURZTRAMINER. Comes from central Texas awesome place to take a weekend drive, excellent roads. Acutally I can't stand wine this is the only stuff I found I can drink reason its only one I'll recommend ;)

and to add to Austins suggestion, I suggest heading over to Coopers BBQ in Llano County. This place has been voted the worlds best BBQ in the world countless times over now. Ohh, yes, the Llano wine is really damn good as previously stated.

Now you are a wine expert too Mr. Bimmer Pimp? I know I'm not, but I know good wine when I taste it. :)

Yeah, well, when your dad is a wine afficionado & he takes you on a road trip to the wine country in NorCal when you're 12, you kinda pick up things. Also, him being a restauranteur helps too.

Besides, I'm enrolled in a class called 'Beverage Survey' at school. We just got done with wines of the world. We just moved on to spirits.

This is to help Texas wineries to grow allowing direct sales from the vineyard to the customer no more third person law. So its a Texas thing not a Napa Valley thing.

Hey Austin, If you like Chocolate Cake, try some Messina Hof Papa's Port reserve with a chocolate cake and report back to me.
P.S. it's 19% alcohol
http://www.messinahof.com/docs/BR%20Port.pdf

And on a side note Italian wine > CA wine. Not even in teh same league.
I'll take the weakest Grand Cru over the best California wine any day.

Nah I dont really like Wine, Champagne, sparkling wine or liquor. I'm 95% beer guy I'll settle for a Shiner. Other 5% is crown and coke.

In the beer world I would recommend Shiner 97 its a Bohemian Black lager. Has light chocolate and espresso flavor to it. Would go well which rich chocolate cake.

Yah its limited edition. Shiner once a year puts out a special beer starting with Shiner 96 last year. This year is Shiner 97 which they will continue up to shiner 100 celebrating their 100th year brewing. Which is actually pretty old for an American beer.

In the fridge right now I have:

Shiner 97
Shiner Bock
Shiner LIght
Shiner BLonde
Shiner Kolsch
Shiner Hefeweizen
Flying Dog Pale Ale (brewery from colorado)

If you wanna try another local beer I'd recommend Rahr beers based in Ft worth. I like their Rahrs Red.

Oh yah any time you come over the Bud Light in a can is my give away beer I dont drink that crap. So dont feel bad about drinking it.

So even in so-called 'dry' towns, wine sales are permitted now?

I personally have a taking for Riesling. Its light, flavorful, & goes with almost anything.

75% of the grapes need to be from Texas inorder for it to be considered a Texas wine. So far it seems only Texas wines apply for the whole state being wet. Thus making Texas wine sales increase helping Texas wines to compete with California and other states.

Yes the city of Tyler is 'dry' but the first wine store will open end of November for purchace of wine to be carried off the property. They have a few samples you can drink on site before buying a bottle.

White Zin are for the older folks. I know that Riesling is a dessert wine, but it goes very well with any light pasta dish.

Eiswein really doesn't go with steak at all. :confused

+1 on 97. The only place I can find it is Cent Market. It's like mixing all the good parts of Guinness and Shiner together in one frothy mantastic beer explosion

2. Silver Oak Napa Valley 2001 (Cab)

There used to be a time my dad would go nuts for a bottle of Silver Oak, especially a 1989, 1990, 1991 vintage.
