I went there for that bmw cca thing. I ended up getting my wheel back without a tire (my brother was picking it up). Figure 1 hr each way + tank of gas: the fuckers didn't even apologize! Stay away from them.
On the other hand, I have nothing but good things to say about RimPro in Tewksbury Mass. They went above and beyond while working on my cracked bbs rs. Thanks guys! :redspot

I second that. I was less than pleased with the job they did on a couple of wheels I took there. I took my next set to RimPro, and I too cannot say enough good things about them. At least one of the guys that works there is a member here, too. :)

$100 to weld, same for straightening. But the fact that they stand behind their work is priceless!
Back to Rim works: they claim that they have straightened my wheel. I threw it on the stand at my friend's place, and it's out of round.

yea, ive had bad experiences with getting a job done right around here too. New England Wheels and Wheel covers (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=552736) can straighten a wheel just fine, its just putting the wheel back on correctly they have trouble with.

I was also at the BMW CCA event at Rim & Wheel Works in Waltham. I brought them a bare M3 Contour Replica to straighten, they did mine first thing. I thought they did a fair job, and they seemd OK to me. Sorry you had a bad experience.

I've done business with both RimPro and Rim and Wheelworks. RimPro straightened a wheel I bent at the track. Everyhting was satisfactory.
I had a satisfactory experience at Rim and Wheelworks. The was a complicated and confusing experience, but really my fault. I was looking for some track wheels and they just don't have enough fitment experience, and maybe you can't expect that from them. I ended up buying a set of wheels that didn't work for me, and they unmounted the tires for me for free after I'd used them at the track and corded them. I felt that they were reasonable. One of the wheels was home-painted with rattle-can paint and it bubbled on the track when the wheel got hot. They swapped it for a regular OEM-painted one without question. Ina (the owner) is a bit of a character, but in the end made sure that I was satisfied.
My only grip about Rim and Wheelworks was that I made a point about not getting excess water-based gell into the tires (because it causes excess pressure gain at the track), and I had 15 psi of gain, rather than my usual 10. Maybe they did use the minimum amount of gell, but somehow there was more moisture in my wheel than usual.
I will now try to use a race shop that uses silicone or animal fat as a lube, rather than the water based gell. Also, HMS Motorsports will mount the RA-1's that they sell. I don't know if they mount other tires too.
I didn't quite understand from the OP's description exactly what happened. They didn't have it ready when you came, or they straightened it but didn't mount the tire?
And my last point: inspect your wheels if you track your car. I had 2 of 5 spokes cracked clear through on my Borbet track wheels. I now have SSR Comps, which are probably even more fragile! I inspect them when I check air pressure at the track, and I look them over closely when I clean them at the end of the weekend.

I have had numerous wheels straightened and refinished at Rim and Wheelworks. I have always been treated with the respect that I have shown them. I don't know about the original poster's interactions, maybe there was some confusion about remounting the tire. I do know that Ina will refuse to remount a tire and wheelset that she considers dangerous for either a wheel or tire reason. I have also seen her not immediately remount a painted wheel picked up before the paint has set. They are now powdercoating the wheels so this is not an issue any more.
I had one set of wheels that I bought from them used. I tracked them and the paint yellowed. Ina took them back and refinished them without question.
I agree with Dan about the wheel mounting lube issue. In the end, if you are dealing with track stuff, you probably should deal with people used to the issues involved.
