gather around the fire guys..its story time.
The exhaust note said "ahh, that was a great season" as I down shifted into 2nd coming out of the expessway off ramp and approached the awaiting red light one cool October evening. Only about 5k left till home now. Taking it easy now, no real rush cruising the curb lane, i couldnt help but notice the headlights of a car darting in and out of traffic in my rear view mirror and getting closer and closer to me. "hmm" wondering what this guy was driving and what was the big rush was, i slowed down and waited for him. As he pulled beside me, i have to admit his 350z sounded nice. really nice. Looks like his rush was over as he cruised beside me blippin the throttle once and awhile as if to say " lets go". My thought was this is a race i'd rather win with the name BMW alone, thinking that he might very well blow my doors off. Besides, we were in a consistant flow of traffic, no place to have a race and get myself in to more license troubles. Relentless this guy was, and my foot couldnt help itself as it pounded the throttle into the floor for a quick second barking back at the 350z. The next intersection was mine, saved by the intersection *sigh* as i turned the sweeping corning to the yeild sign and waited for my break. Glanced in the rear view once, hello 350z sitting right behind me. Well its come to this huh? open road now, no traffic. Ok 350, lets see what you got. Eased out first gear and held it at 2700 (one of my favorite sweet spots) and let him jump in front of me with his engine screeming for the shift. Come on baby.. mashing the pedal to the floor the back end broke loose and the tires whistled their tune..giddy up go!! second gear and "chirps" as she sat down as if to say "lets catch this motherf$#*er" Top of second and wait,...could it be? Im pulling this guy in!! 3rd and on his ass. The realization that i could take him had set in..now i just sit here on his bumper and make him wonder for a second--why am I not pulling away from this guy?-- Ok, Ive had enough, time to pass. Pulled to his left side and let the imola roadster sail on by as my grin was now ear to ear spread over my face. As i passed I wished i was him for a split second imagining how nice his view of my car was. Hmm 4th? why not. He still hasnt givin up, adios amigo as the gap just got painfully bigger. Turned on the next side street and brought her down to a quite cruise. Great season roady, great season. :alright
