LOL, that's right, I found myself in a drag race on the way to work today with a new Toyota Tundra V8. The kid behind the wheel looked like he obtained his license 3 hours beforehand. We both made right turns out of the community I live in, he in the right lane, myself in the left. There was a slow moving car in his lane about 200 yards ahead, so he floored it to pass me.. oh no junior, I don't think so. I accelerated to redline in second, shifted to third, and looked to my right to see how I was doing. At this point he was about 2 bus lengths behind me so I shifted into fourth and just started cruising. He barreled by a second later on my right, stopping next to me to flip the bird and shout all manner of hateful epithets. I laughed and told him to have a nice day at school.. funny, he made the next left into Tesoro high school lol.

I don't know what it is with me and trucks.. last week it was the lifted TRD Tacoma with fartcan exhaust, this week it's the Tundra! I haven't had the opportunity to test myself against anything legit yet.. anyone live in the Orange County CA area interested in having some fun?!

I've heard that some of those Jeeps are monsters.. kind of crazy that some suv's have enough power to destroy my little m3!

In a straight line at least lol.

:werd: ...fukin trucks. i usually get alot of Ford Lightnings and SRT-10s that want a piece. and while i hate racing trucks...:rolleyes , they are pretty quick for trucks. and besides, i can't stand it when someone thinks he has a fast enough truck to beat the SPORTSCAR next to him :lol3 :lol3 :lol3 , and so i end up racing him anyways. oh well...so much for self control.

jeeps that have either a 340hp or 425hp engine Hemi V8 can move pretty good in a straight line.

I have learned my lesson, I stay away from jeeps that rock a HEMI badge and any full sized truck with a diesel. Im sick of getting the black smoke treatment

HAHAHAHAHAH this is so true, this happens where I live all the time on the 5 freeway- the best is when they have the "How am I driving?" or "Now hiring safe drivers" stickers on the back LOL!

go to RBP.COM (Rollin Big Power)

I never though I would get smoked by an F-350 diesel. Till I went to the website and saw that the truck that beat me was on the website.

40 inch tires/15 inch lift/and 12 second qt. mi!

I should have known that 5 inch exhaust tip was for something.

My freind nate and me pulled hard on a c4 vett once in his cherokee. :alright

Except we were in 4low so the race was over at about 12 mph. Funny as hell though.

Oh and nothing since 1973 has ever been fast with the hemi badge. (besides the srt8's that is)

HAHA that used to be me. A few years ago I was a driver for goodyear and was ripping around all day in an E350 diesel cube van. I never actually raced anyone though, just raced the clock to make my deliveries.

Funny, this actually happened to me. Two guys lined up at the lights with us (wife and parents) in our car and one of them asked if I want to race. I'm like... NO. Then he asked why not? I told them it's childish and stupid. We were looking for a parking spot for dinner. Stupid redneck and their Jeep Chero.

I tend to agree. Most High School kids have a "need for speed" and I doubt he would have slowed you down. Why waste the gas to prevent someone from getting ahead of you? I hate being stuck behind slow drivers, and if I see someone trying to get around one I generally let them go ahead of me...

i think for the OP that it was more a matter of principle. in other words, "don't try to beat me to the merge if you don't KNOW FOR SURE that you can." yes i tend to agree with most of you, but when its a young cocky driver, it makes it that much more difficult not to "put him in his place," so to speak.

I agree with the above poster. I also don't like racing trucks/suv's for the sake fo their safety more than anything. It's easy for an arrogant new driver to speed, take a corner to fast, and be done. I know most of them can be put into place easily, and some not so easily. It's more of a gamble of the life than losing for me. I love the kill stories tho :) Keep smoking the young ones.

Raced my buddys 54 willys in high school. We smoked a new 2001 celica gts. something like a 280cu V8 with 9:1 rear end ratio. topped out at 45 mph.
Definitely stay away from the cherokee srt-8. 13.2 @ 104.1

I notice that young men in GM pickup trucks want to race me. Partly its because they are one of the few who know the difference between a 750 and any other BMW. They also seem kind of envious and angry. For various reasons, I drive pretty conservatively. I had one honk at me for driving merely 5 mph over the speed limit on a two lane road. A bad experience being cut off by bimmer drivers while in high school, I expect....

If I didn't mind putting my license on the line for the privilege of waiting an extra thirty seconds at the next light, I would accomodate them. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be much of a contest. As far as the envy goes, they have no idea that I spent less than half as much on the bimmer as they did on their pickups, so I'm laughing up my sleeve.

i drive a 04 H.D. edition f-150 and its pretty fast its S/C stock and we put a new pulley on it. i stuck with a new body style saleen mustang up to 90 then i stopped b/c i had to turn . it will burn out through 3rd gear from a stop which is pretty good for an automatic truck

This thread reminds me of last week when I was cruising in the fast lane in heavyish traffic when some dude in an old Dodge Ram came BARRELLING off the onramp onto the highway racing a fullsize Chevy pickup. The Chevy pickup let off and braked without switching lanes. The Dodge, with an open bed of furniture and a mattress and clearly heavily weighted down cuts off 3 cars to dart into the fast lane in front of me doing 100+mph and slams on the brakes, nearly slamming into the car in front of me which was doing 75 max. Then this asshole doesn't bother to hit the gas again and is eventually doing 60mph and cars are passing us on the right.

So I switch lanes to get around him, and he doesn't seem to care. But as soon as I have a reasonable amount of room to get back in front of him he speeds up with WOT. By this time I was already halfway in the lane, and my slow ass car is taking its time getting up to 80mph, and he's on my ass. Now I have a huge extended cab Dodge Ram with a bed full of shit riding my bumper at less than half a car length.

Now my exit is coming up, and I have to get over 5 lanes, so I move over for him, but he follows me into the next lane. I move over one more, but he's already moving over. So by now I'm just trying to ditch this lunatic who appears to want me deaded. He's matching my every move and sticking inches off my bumper and now we're in the second to furthest right hand lane by SFO, and the far right lane is empty, but is an exit only lane to the rental car section of the airport with only a few hundred feet of room left before it veers off.

Of course this crazy dude decides to take it and mashes the throttle and weaves around me going 90+. I knew there was no way this guy was going to the airport with that truck full of crap, and sure enough, as he makes his way up to 100mph he is quickly running out of room. Before long he is driving on the shoulder throwing up debris until he finds an opening and nearly loses control as his truck nosedives as he slams on the brakes cutting off an Integra about 5 cars in front of me, who gets pissed off and races him on the exit of 101 and up to hwy 380.

That was probably the scariest thing to happen to me on the road. Seriously, I was hoping this guy would lose control after running out of room and crash into the cushion barrels on the shoulder of the exit, rolling the truck and throwing his furniture all over the side of the road. I would have pulled over, laughed, and driven away.

Lol man i had a similar situation tonight except without the carnage:). It was dark so i'm not exactly sure what type of SUV was behind me but i see him in my rear view. Apparently i was going too slow for him so he violently changes lanes and tries to speed around me. Needless to say i gave him a little taste of BMW power and left him in the dust. Bout a minute later he's on my rear end and following me around, tailgating me the whole way. Few minutes later he took a left and i kept goin straight. I guess he got bored or whatever and decided to leave me alone. Probably needed more beer :D

I was on WA-520 and this one dude in a F-250 starts roaring and everything behind me, because apparently someone in the lane next to me was formation driving (which pisses me the hell off). So I pull ahead to let him pass, but nooooo, he wants to make a "point". He passes me on the left, then wants to race.

I roll my eyes. I turn on the sport mode, and he takes off. I don't even take it out of 5th and just pass him on the right after about 5 seconds. I guess those rednecks think their monster trucks are worth a damn on city roads. I slow down, and I exit as he's about to merge into my lane, trying to cut me off or something.

Seriously, what do some truck drivers have in their blood to make them so ornery?

"Seriously, what do some truck drivers have in their blood to make them so ornery?"

At least in GA the WORST accident statistics are for 18 to 30 years old males in pickup trucks.
I was up on HWY 60 in the N. GA mountains in my 911. I was taking it easy when Bubba and Bobie Sue come up and start riding my tail. Now at this point Bobbie Sue was all snuggled up next to Bubba when he decides his F5000 sport truck can take that little "Ferin" car. I turn up the wick a bit on some very twisty roads. Bubba attemps to keep up and almost loses it, crossing way over the center line and Bobbie Sue is getting ready to toss her biscuits and grits. I figured it was time to check out so I start diving for the apexes. The last thing I saw as I pulled away was her sliding over all the way right and hitting Bubba trying to get him to slow down.
I give pickups a wide berth. Around here a lot of them are driven by some really ignorant, inbred stumpf#@ks.
